Guest guest
EXCELLENT response, Sheila. It's individual advocacy like this that moves boulders!!! Janie aka ThyroDiva > I think this is an excellent letter, it sets out the real truth >that Armour is SAFE and approved by the FDA - and it meets the >unable for some reason to benefit from the 'licensed' thyroid >medication, then a doctor CAN prescribe from the 'unlicensed' list. >It is the doctors choice whether or not he/she is willing to do >this. > > Take a copy of this letter to your doctor, and if he STILL says that he will not prescribe Armour for you - ask him specifically WHY NOT. If he still comes up with the old answers, ask him to point you to the exact references where he got this information in the first place. He won't be able to tell you. Guest guest
Thats right!!! There is no documentation on Armour and it's dosing problems, but a ton of documentation on Synthroid and levoxyl etc...Last warning I got told me of a dosing problem with Levoxyl...you'll never guess what it was about..... They put animal thyroid pills in with Regular human thyroid pills..AHHHHH LOL They can't keep themselves straight and the first thing the " non knowledgable " docs say is....Armour cannot be exact on it's dosage, it comes from bovine (and we know that isn't true) and it just isnt' the best drug...They are still in La La land with those excuses...Knowledge is power...find out all you can...go to all the websites and print out all this info and be Adamant toward your doc.....When a patient is knowledgable a doc has to stop and listen...if he/she doesn't....then a new doc is in order. I remember a very " well known " endo here in the Port Huron area told a lady that I advocate for, that the thyroid has absolutely nothing to do with your female organs and wouldn't affect your periods. Go figure, this is the doc that almost killed my sister in law because she was too proud to just try Armour. Since then my sister in law has seen dr. Milton in Georgia and she is doing wonderfully!!! Guest guest
Thyroid malfunction does not effect female hormones or periods.... gosh... now I'm scared.... if it wasn't a thyroid issue that caused my periods to stop for 8 of the years that I was hyper before my thyroid storm and the RAI.... and it wasn't the RAI killing off my thyroid and reducing the levels of hormone in my system that caused my periods to start again...... what was it? oh oh oh... I know.... all women in their 20's have vacations from having periods..... right? C'mon, admit it... everyone here stopped having periods when they hit 22 or 23, right? whew.... I'm so relieved that we figure that out! Guest guest
yeah right, the only time I ever had regular periods was the brief few months that I wa hyper. When I mentionted this to my doc she said she couldn't see how it was related. Lynda (in the UK) Thyroid malfunction does not effect female hormones or periods.... Guest guest
Guess my Dr is even cooler than I thought. I had gone to her because my periods were so heavy and just based on that she had a blood test done and my TSH was 94 - the highest TSH she had ever seen. Too bad you have to search for a great Dr than hang onto them once you find them. Guest guest
You know what??? if about a half dozen of us pooled together.. we'd have all the brain power, experience and flat out knowledge to cover every aspect of thyroid care better than ANY doc. Try to explain to them that you KNOW that there is something wrong with your body.. that it's out of whack... and they look at you like you're a blithering idiot! You live in a body from the day you are born and you are donna darn well know when it's off kilter!!!! Guest guest
Now... Fruity Pebbles sounds interesting... I can't think of one person I know that eats them...... soo... it must be a cereal that isn't real popular, or they'd be WAY more docs.... or maybe only a certain percentage of the boxes have the medical licenses.... We must do more research on this, gang! hehehehehe Topper () On Tue, 30 Dec 2003 02:12:42 -0500 " Patti Tasson " writes: > Well, probably something serious - like Special K or Wheaties.
