Guest guest
As a matter of fact, I would suspect that it is the Tannic Acid in coffee which is bad for you. Cy, the ancient Okie... Guest guest
it really just puts a large strain on the kidneys to filter out the pollutants in pop/tea/coffee and water just doesn't do that *grin* Regards, Re: caffeine > > > Lol! Guest guest
Well , Any good and faithful New Englander would tell you that the only drink fit for man or beast is - yup, you got it, WATER. There is no doubt that the additives and artificial garbage in soda pop is difficult to filter out of the blood stream. The acids in coffee and tea will also do interesting things to the lining of the digestive system. Look at it this way, if you can dye material using coffee or tea just imagine what happens to your insides. (smile) The same thing is also true of many fruit juices but, of course, a good Diabetic would not ever want to consume something with that much sugar now would they? (another very large smile) I have read a number of studies which maintain that the process of removing the caffeine from the coffee and tea produces a product which is actually worse for you. The instant coffee and tea product ingreadient lists look like something you might want to put into a rocket. Cy, the Ancient Okie... Guest guest
Markie, Now, please make a note that I did not say for you to give up coffee and tea...t I still drink coffee as well as tea. I like iced tea made from the tea bags.. Cy, the Ancient Okie... Re: caffeine ok guys, sounds like you all are telling folks like me, to throw away the coffee. I understand that caffeine is bad for you in many ways, but us diabetics surely do miss out on so much. can't we at least keep our beloved coffee with caffeine? some thing is wrong with decaff coffee. maybe it is because it doesn't have a kick. when I get to wanting to eat some thing that I shouldn't have, I just make a pot of black coffee and it helps to not eat the bad thing. of course I suppose I am going bad with the caffeine, so why not eat the bad thing? give up my coffee? what is left after I give up my life long friend? coffee with caffeine, we have got along for so many years to gather. surely you all are just joking? just pulling my leg? I do enjoy water and drink at least one gallon per day, if not more, but give up coffee! I all ready gave up the white milk about three years ago and never did really drink much tea, finally got to where I can drink decaff, diet, pop now, but not to much, and butter milk is only a small treat now and then. no more then two, low carb beers at one time and now you say to give up my coffee. now I do know that I drink way to much coffee per day. probably a whole pot a day by my self. at least. I suppose you guys want me to drink nothing but water all day and all night? how exciting this sounds to me. plain water and more plain water. how sad can it get? breakfast with out hot, black, coffee, going to the lake and sitting by a big fire and have no coffee, need a pick me up, no coffee, get tired of plain water, need a change, no coffee, well well! guess I really need to do some serious thinking about this. diabetes is taking away all the good tasting things in life. maybe this is a good thing though, if you can't enjoy eating any more, then no way to over eat. pretty soon, eating becomes like taking out the trash or cleaning the john. just some thing you have to do. no since in looking forward to a meal again. eat a bowled egg and be on your way. I heard that winging your self off caffeine, can be like stop drinking? this sure doesn't sound like fun. but I know what is going to say. it is for your own good, if you wish to live for a few more years. do all that you can do for your self and hope for the best. can't we keep at least one vice? I pick coffee for my one vice. I guess coffee and doughnuts are out of the question? have water and a stalk of celery instead? and here I sit, reading all this bad news about caffeine and I am drinking a cup of coffee, with caffeine. I know, learn to live with out it and you will feel so much better. ok, I will start giving up the coffee, the middle of next month. probably will start chewing my finger nails and pulling my hair out. sounds like my wife might divorce me pretty soon, cause I am going to get hard to live with. thanks to all you fine folks, for telling all these white lies about wonderful coffee with caffeine. please don't take me serious, the gentlemen pig Re: caffeine > > > Good Morning , > Do you have any thoughts on tea? > BTW, I drink the coffee for the caffeine alone and actually do not > care for the taste at all. Guest guest
have to say, this post had me rolling on the floor. I often feel this way, giving up stuff is with out a doubt the hardest part, I love food, love drinks, like soda, though I did switch to diet,. which is an acquired taste. but I often feel like everything I find, that I like that is diet, or what ever, ends up being as bad if not worse then the original, so agreed, why not just say screw it and eat or drink the original, granted, if you give up all, you probably will live, and if not death awaits you sooner, but ya only live once, right? so why not live like you want, then the other part of me, is like well, if you want to live, you will lose the weight, and drop the food and drink. I see why some people, go get an operation that allows them to only eat an ounce of food, they not only lose weight, but they also if diabetic, no longer have to worry, about eating the wrong thing or drinking the wrong thing, because when your stomach is tightened or hell, ripped out,, smiles, you eat one piece, of something, or drink a drop of water or what ever, and you are full, maybe that would be a reasonable, rout, then, I figure to bad I am not to fond of hospitals, otherwise I would go, smiles. so I sit here still, fighting the daemons, that consume my life, like the want to eat pizza pies, milk, bread, cereal, pot pies, and good stuff like that. what do you do. sometimes I wish, I just hated food, then I wouldn't ever have to worry about it. but then, I would never know the sweet sweet feeling of eating a jalapeño popper or 13. only now i have this voice in the back of my head going no no you can't its got breading on it, and then i start to feel so guilty. in the end, it just seems like a fight not to eat, and after all the fighting you die anyway. in short, I have a ton of thoughts and lots of trouble sorting it out, I know what I need to do, and have with some of it, but I truly struggle, on an every day basis. thanks for listening. shane Re: caffeine > > > > > > Good Morning , > > Do you have any thoughts on tea? > > BTW, I drink the coffee for the caffeine alone and actually do not care > > for the taste at all. > > You sure seem to have bounce to the ounce. > > BTW, I drink the coffee for the caffeine alone and actually do not > > care for the taste at all.
