Guest guest
My husband saw a Naturopathic Dr. last year before the PSC was dx and he said that he did not think that caffiene was good for the liver because it "excited" it????? It made it hard for it to do its normal functions. My husband seems as though he drinks more of it now (coffee) than before in the place of a beer and other social drinks. It is processed by the liver, so it may give the liver more work to do but I don't know of any other specific problem it causes. I have had problems with caffiene staying in my system for a long time (several days without much sleep) due to the fact that it takes longer for my liver to remove it from my system. I don't use it intentionally any more, 'cause I like to be able to sleep! athan
Guest guest
can you ever decaffeinate a coffee drinker? Guest guest
The only way is to slowly cut down. maybe dilute your coffee with some caffeine free coffee-a little at a time. re: caffeine can you ever decaffeinate a coffee drinker? Guest guest
I just saw somewhere that caffene is helpful for kidney dysfunction. Sorry can't come up with the source. Perhaps it was in one of the articles you posted. <smile> As Harry says, 2 or 3 cups isn't a problem. Dave caffeine Hi Folks, Well I did it again. Drank too much coffee. How can I decaffeinate myself? And before you start in on me Harry, I have learned my lesson. Smile. Rita
Guest guest
Hi Folks, I can tell I did not frame my question clearly. It is not that I want to decaffeinate myself over a long period of time, but for the immediate time being. From time to time, I get far too hyper. Then I want to clear out my blood stream quickly. Dave I too get a headache from decaffe. Besides why bother drinking coffee if not for the boost? Decaffe has way way too much salt for someone on bp meds. I agree three or four cups can be helpful for lots of reasons. I think I am close to being addicted! Smile. Thanks everyone. Did take two large glasses of water and it helped a little. Guest guest
your nuts Harry. try telling that to the doctor. My doctor just told me to stop all caffeine, pop and carbination, because it can cause a stomach disorder in diabetics over time and lead to terrible, if not impossible, sugar regulation. You might enjoy it, but that doesn't mean it is good for you and to throw all caution to the wind. BTW yes, I drink 2 cups of coffee a day and an occasional pop. Guest guest
BTW also as a diabetic the pollutants, phosphoric acid, that are in pop and coffee are not good on our kidneys which we are all trying to preserve. Guest guest
Good Morning , Do you have any thoughts on tea? BTW, I drink the coffee for the caffeine alone and actually do not care for the taste at all. You sure seem to have bounce to the ounce. Smile. Guest guest
Hi Rita. I'm not a huge tea drinker but, normally I use one tea bag for about 3 cups of tea instead of getting a new bag each time to try to cut down on the caffeine. Guest guest
, What kind of stomach disorder could pop cause? I have not heard about it. O yes, I did talk to Wayne last evening and he was doing well. Wayne feels that he is improving and hopes to be able to get into a rehab unit soon. I have forgotten the details but Wayne was telling me that a particular rehab facility told him that since he has lost both lets they could now consider him handicapped. He was incensed! I probably can not repeat exactly the verbiage he used to describe what he told them back but, trust me, it was fluently spoken... (smile) I have to admire his courage and determination because it is probably more than I would have under similar circumstances. Let's just keep up the support folks. Cy, the Ancient Okie...
