Alyce,

Slow-poke bringing up the rear here.... at age 47, in May 1999,

about 3 mos post-UAE, I had hot flashes. It wasn't the hot flash itself,

but the loss of sleep incurred from them that made me tired and

crabby....hmm.

So, I returned to my gyne for a prescription of synthetic HRT-CombiPatch

0.050/0.14mg per day produced by Rhone-Poulenc, they're big chemical

conglomerate producing corn herbicides and biotech....uhoh.

I got relief from the hot flashes but blew up with

water weight gain. My breasts.....remember throwing water balloons

as kids?...became so sore and swollen, I could barely remove my bra at the end

of the day. So, I immediately ditched CombiPatch...went on remifemin,

vitamin E, exercised cut down on caffeine/alcohol...but not entirely :)

I also got a saliva test through College Pharmacy,

3505 Austin Bluffs Parkway, Suite 101, Colorado Springs, CO

80918 phone: /or and got a compounded

prescription of NHRT Biest 2.5 mg and Progest SL 200 mg

with Pete Hausman. They are very helpful if you want to give

them a call for a possible alternative to synthetic HRT.

But in the end, I didn't take the NHRT--figuring that menopause

is still maybe a couple of years away, since I've had normal

periods, post UAE, I'm sticking with the herbs, exercise, and dietary

stuff and no long-term HRT. But....this is just my opinion---others

may very well be responding well to synthetic or natural HRT

I believe there are women on embo groups who are also taking

HRT or NHRT post-UAE. I don't know that the research is in

yet on growth of new fibroids, post-UAE with HRT, either. Also,

try Jeannah McElroy's HRT-NHRT@...

.....

Also, a new development, I drove myself to the Ob-Gyn today

in Palm Harbor FL that my IR said was referring for UAE's---

He performed an in-office LEEP procedure to get a cervical polyp

from my cervix. There is no relationship between UAE

and cervical polyps...but just to remind everyone to be diligent

about your post-procedure annual paps/check-ups----

I may have a pro-active hysteroscopy to check out my lining

since I had all that heavy bleeding for so many years later this summer.

If we could just get the 50,000 mile overhaul nearing menopause....

look forward to... " menopausal zest " as good ole Margaret Mead,

the anthropologist, talked about long ago...I'm getting all

revved up, just thinking about it.....;)

I'm offline after tomorrow night for a few weeks. Checking the posts

on my return home. Take good care, Alyce--don't let the hot flashes...

err " power surges " get you down...Marsha
