Knigge, MD Clin Cornerstone 4(4):49-60, 2002. © 2002 Excerpta Medica, Inc Abstract Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) comprises a group of idiopathic diseases of the intestine characterized by chronic inflammation of the bowel with periods of exacerbation and remission. The 2 major categories of IBD are ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, and each disease is distinct both clinically and histologically. The exact cause of IBD remains unknown, but several theories have been proposed. Primary care physicians are frequently confronted with the initial diagnosis and management of patients with IBD, and medical treatment options have rapidly expanded in recent years. This article reviews the epidemiology and pathogenesis of IBD; its clinical presentations and complications, which are essential to understanding this complex disease; and the available treatment options. .................................... Guest guest
You know.. the thing about general recommendations for food sensitivities... for some people they are liable to be spot on (statistically speaking) but it's so much better to know your delayed hypersensitivities for the individual rather than use someone else's experiences as a guide..... This is where, with a little bit of testing and your counseling guidance, you can really impress your referring physician.... Then he won't pay attention to the " restriction du jour " if you have it all " in hand " Sincerely, Michal Hogan, RD, LD, CLT NutritionResults.com Blackwell Center 3665 Olentangy River Road Columbus, OH 43219 (614) 566-2997 Fax: Check Website for Coupons In a message dated 3/30/2009 2:34:48 P.M. I do know if you want to know anything about IBD the place to go is New Zealand, they have been doing long-term IBD studies for quiet a while. I believe if you contact the university they should be able to direct you to where you want to go. I remember it as being a very interesting ongoing study presented at the Neotrigenomic conference two years ago.
