Unfortunately, I don't think Stern is taken very seriously. I'm

under the impression that the words " shock jock " were first and most

commonly used referring to Stern. My impression is he's the radio talk show

equivalent of a troll - he'll say anything to get people riled up, whether

it's against mom, apple pie, AA, the pope, or whatever.

But it's at least good that people heard someone putting AA in its place,

and someone else's 'example of sobriety'. Of course, AA'ers will say that

shouldn't have said she was in AA, that she broke her anonymity, and

by admitting that and that she was drunk at the awards, it make it look like

a failure of AA when all AA'ers know that the failure was hers (but if she

HAD stayed sober everyone would give the credit to AA and her higher power).

Unfortunately, I regard Stern as an unmitigated a**hole. His job

consists in debunking things, and so I expect him to do that, and I don't take

him seriously because I don't know if he believes what he says. Often I suspect

he says what he says just to go against the mainstream. It wouldn't surprise me

if a lot of people agreed with me on this one.
