As you know, Carla Dionne said in Message

#7615 that she has extra copies of the final edition

of her book, " Sex, Lies, and the Truth About Uterine Fibroids "

and that for a $50.00 donation to NUFF, she will forward

I received a copy of Carla's book last week and

it is excellent! I immediately sent a $50.00 check to NUFF

and in addition to other contributions I made this past

year. Why?

I thought about my own situation about 7 years ago when

my uterine fibroids nightmare began. I felt totally isolated

coping with my symptoms. I spent hundreds of dollars for medical

visits and consults with 4 gynecologists in the Tampa Bay

area. Snippets of inadequate information were given in pricey

medical consults and continuous medical visits as I coped

with my symptoms. Existing women's health books in the

library were obsolete and outdated.

I had to trave out of state to Yale Medical School to get a

complete consult that included alternative medical therapies

like UAE. I returned from the Dec.'99 consult and discovered

UAE was performed locally by Interventional Radiologist, Dr.

Gerald Niedzwiecki in a St. sburg Times 1/31/99 newspaper

article. On 2/8-9/00, my UAE procedure was filmed in a 2-part

TV segment by WTVTFox13---More women in Tampa Bay

found out about UAE as a treatment option.

When Carla had her surgery this past March, I helped with

incoming NUFF phone calls as she was recuperating. As each

woman spoke, I thought, " Oh, No! She's going through exactly

what I did! " I relived my own anxious thoughts, the sense of

desperation, a pleas for help and information..and following the

conversation, grateful thank-you's and " God Bless You " ...

" ...Before I move on to the other " news " of the week, I'd

like to mention that I've now received copies of the final

edition of my book. ( " Sex, Lies, & the Truth About

Uterine Fibroids " -official release date is April 23)....and....

At any rate, I'm extremely proud of this work that's been

created and I've decided to donate 50 copies to NUFF.

And for a minimum donation of $50.00 to NUFF, you

can receive a signed copy of this book directly from

me (the book has a $14.95 U.S. retail value-but the

remaining portion of your donation would be tax-deductible

as NUFF is a registered 501c3). Believe me, NUFF

needs the money. With " Woman's Day " magazine

listing our phone number in their April 3 2001 issue, the

phone bill, mailing, and print costs for brochure requests

has skyrocketed! It's a good thing. But we still have

a long way to go before we have true operational funding

that allows us to grow and hire staff. We'll get there.
