Guest guest
Hi All! I have been on prednisone for a good week now. I keep losing weight, which I can't afford to do. With my recent gallbladder surgery and NOW possible Crohn's Disease... my stomach hurts soooo badly whenever I DO eat... so I would prefer NOT to eat. I munch on crackers, a piece of bread here and there... anything heavier... BAM!!! I head for the bathroom and am so bent with cramps! Is this typical for the lupus patient? I'm getting some tests done, I believe will be next week for the Crohn's Disease... I am not going to let them take my damn colon out!!! I told my husband, NO! I'll cramp for ever if I have to! Just wondering if anyone else gets cramps too like that??? Dory :-)
Guest guest
Dory, Glad I can be amusing for you. LOL My kids think I'm the meanest mom on the planet. My nickname, bestowed on me by my first adopted son, , when he was four years old was, " THE MEAN GREEN MOTHER MACHINE " . Of course, is the child who is mentally and emotionally scarred so badly that he is currently in a residential treatment and diagnostic facility waiting for placement in a transitional training facility where he will receive independent living skills training and get his meds on a maintenance program. He has been in and out of mental health placements since he was seven years old. I adopted him at three years of age. He still refers to me as " SHE " and " HER " , not as Mike or even Mom, just the pronouns. LOL He's been a real challenge, but I don't regret taking him in. I'm just surprised that I did it three more times after that! Truly insane, that's me. LOL Anyway, I don't know why I told you all that, but my point is that laughing about things is how I cope with them. Being the eldest in a very poor, Irish Catholic family is the best training I know for living with humor. You either give up and blow your brains out, or you learn to laugh at life. This is because there is no guilt like Catholic guilt. No other culture, religion, or race has a patch on Catholics...especially those of us who were taught our religion by nuns. We feel guilty if we DON'T feel guilty about something...so you see, our only defense is a sense of humor...or alcohol... LOL. A lot of my uncles and aunts have a drinking problem; I prefer the habit of laughing. Creates lots of endorphins, and those help with pain management a lot better than drinking. So, now that I've written a book, hope I made you laugh some more, honey. Take care, and keep writing. It helps, too. Love, MM

Guest guest
I have the IBS stuff too! I had my gall bladder in 1995 and it's definitely worse since. I had a polyp once, but had it removed and haven't had any since. I was tested for Chron's but thankfully, it was negative. Have you been tested for Sprue (SP?) Inside your intestines there are little " fingers " that help food move through. If you have this sprue the " fingers " are paralyzed. The remedy is to avoid all foods with gluten. I tested negative - just wondered it anyone else has heard of this? Jerri
Guest guest
Dory, you can share the "throne", but just remember I am the Queen. I earned the title.... :-) ALthough, if I could get rid of the UC, I would gladly relinquish my throne.... :-) I see you get the same things as far as in symptoms. I can think of a lot more things I would rather wake up to. Hard to believe how much pain it causes. It takes away your ability to even breathe, doesn't it? Also, I read that you must have sent in pics. I did not see any. Can you resend them, if it is not to much trouble? I love to see pics and put a face to a name, ya know? Love, Normi Re: weight loss>Thanks Normi!>>You are very helpful!!! I'm so sorry you get those darn cramps too! They>are a rude awakening! I hate them! Chills, sweats... ick!!!>Scoot over!
