sorry to hear of your sister-in-law's troubles and I hope that doctor gets

what he deserves. I firmly believe in cases like this the family should sue

not only the doctor but the hospital, as suing the hospital is often the only

way to get much in the way of results, as usually problems like this are

swept under the rug. It is also my personal opinion that in cases like this

the affected patient's medical bills should be excused in addition to any

other expenses they incur until they have recovered.. Just my opinion of

course. I realize there are a lot of stupid, frivolous lawsuits out there,

but in my opinion, this particular type of case is not one of them. We are

all human beings, and I realize mistakes can be made, but for heaven's sake,

the doctors should have the character to own up to them, in which case I

would certainly respect them more then when they play innocent. I'm sending

my good thoughts and prayers your way for your sister-in-law's recovery.

, I have a bookmark for http://www.docinfo.org/. However, it won't

come up this morning. I don't know if the website is down or it's just a

problem on my side. Maybe it will work for you. :)

I tried too but it would not come up for me. I emailed privately

and suggested the state AMA as I have gotten it that way, but it took

some searching which I can't always sit to do. I thought I saved it in my

favorites but when I went to locate it I could not find it. So searching

for the state AMA should eventually lead one to thissite.

,

I am so sorry to hear that your sister-in-law has had this incident

occur. " Incident " doesn't begin to cover the physical trauma to her nor

the emotional trauma to both her and the rest of your family, but it's the

best term I can come up with at the moment. My heart goes out to all of

you. I'm sure you are all enraged. I know I would be. That is one of the

biggest fears we all have--being helpless at the mercy of someone

incompetent, whose competence we pretty much have to take on faith.

The California web site is http://www.medbd.ca.gov/ for the state medical

board. I'm not sure the extent of the information you'll find there--it

varies from state to state. I think they do list disciplinary actions, but

they would set themselves up for a lawsuit if they listed unsubstantiated

accusations.

The central web site for direction to the medical board web sites of the

states that publish physician information on the Internet is

http://www.citizen.org/hrg/PUBLICATIONS/1506.htm. Those of you who do not

live in CA may go there to find a link to your state's medical board's web

site.

I finally got onto the docinfo.org site (as below) but they have a charge

for getting information, so I guess I'll leave that to the attorney, after

all that's what he gets the big bucks for.

Thanks for this too.

I had emailed personally and shared with her that my cousin, head

nurse at her hospital had a clamp left in her when she went in for a

hysterectomy and it perforated her bowel. She has gone through hell

physically. Just recently, 4 years later she went to Boston Univiversity,

out of State, to have her bowel adhesions and kinks removed. She had to

go out of state and the original doctor did not want to approve it, I

wonder why? but she got her way and there is a light after the darkness.

She is doing much better. Her position was she wants to continue to work

in the area and needs not to make too many waves at the hospital. Can

you imagine?

There is a light and we will join in prayer for her.
