Guest guest
Does anyone have any information with regard to children after myomectomy? What is the success rate of children after Lupron? What are the effects of Lupron? I am very sensitive to medications. I found it hard to take the pill. I am a 37 year old female with a history of adhesions, cysts, and now a 7cm fibroid. I want to have children and all my concerns regard preservation of this chance. I am balancing chronic pain ( lower back and fatigue) with appropriate decisions regarding surgery? Does anyone have any positive experience stories regarding child birth after surgery or Lupron or just plain old experience regarding Lupron. Forever Thankful
Guest guest
Hello my name is I am scheduled for a myomectomy on April 19th. On recovery, I have been told by my RE it's 4 to 6 weeks, but that depends on the individual. I was pregnant in Jan 01, but I had a m/c at 2 months, because of a submucosal fibroid that's located right on my endometrium lining. The fibroid prevented the placenta from implanting. My Reproductive Endocrinologist told me that after the myomectomy, we can start trying (ttc'ing) after three cycles. I read somewhere that the uterus is fully healed after three months. There is a lady on thefibroidplace.com forum who got pregnant on her third cycle after her myomectomy, her name is . She was also told by her doctor to wait three cycles. She is still very active in that forum. Also just recently, in the last couple of weeks, someone else there posted a message that she's finally pregnant after her myo., but it took her a year. If you want to hear stories about myomectomies go to www.thefibroidplace.com and go down to the bottom of the page, on the left click on message board and sign in. Good Luck!!! -- In uterinefibroids@y..., annegadbois@h... wrote: > Thanks Sky. Guest guest
Hi , Just wanted to let you know that I am also new to the group and have experienced the same complications as you..I was also pg and m/c had 5 1/2 weeks due to fibroids. Although, my fibroids are not large they cause a lot of bleeding and clotting, back pain and cramping in which I do take prescribed meds to alleviate the pain. My fibroids are aslo located in the endo lining (submucous)and are causing all of my infertility problems. Please keep me updated on your progress and your myomectomy as I am having an abdominal myomectomy in May or June. Is yours also abdominal? Thanks Again, Sky. Good Luck to you next week and I'll pray for you. Take Care --- abm31210@... wrote: > Hello my name is > > I am scheduled for a myomectomy on April 19th. Guest guest
I don't know the stats but I just had multiple fibroids removed via myomectomy and my doctor was very positive that children would be possible. I'm seeing a fertility specialist, she said that Lupron wouldn't be condusive to me trying to concieve and that surgery would be best. Of course, when I get pregnant I will have to have a c-section. She also mentioned that a specialist will have greater sucess as scarring after surgery is sometimes worse than the fibroids. Don't know if you live in or near Texas, but I highly reccomend this doctor. Her name is Dr. Hansard and she works with the Fertility Center in Austin, Texas. My surgery went smoothly with minimum pain. I will try on my own for children for the next few months and then go back in to see how the scarring is doing and see what else is needed to have children. Good Luck! __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I had my myo on April 3rd. I'm now doing pretty well. I'm able to lift my 2 year old - not all the time but can put her in the tub, bed, etc. My main complaint 3 weeks after is the itching! ahhh! It's a sign of healing but boy oh boy that itching is driving me nuts. I can sleep just fine, walk just fine, still tire a bit. My doc says recovery depends on how active you are. If you are a couch potato, it might take months. If you were fairly active before (I did 100 situps a night a month before the surgery just to build up the muscles) then recovery time is a lot less. I feel that within a week or so, I should be doing really well..6-8 weeks is a good estimate. You'll only be limited in movement for about a week. I couldn't drive a car for 10 days - docs orders but I think I could of done it earlier. __________________________________________________

Guest guest
Hi Presha, I live in Dallas, Tx. Thanks for the referral. You mentioned that you had multiple fibroids..how many and where were they located? You also mentioned scarring,(adhesions) Did your Doc. put any type of material over the uterus before closing you up? I've heard that this thin type of material can be placed over the uterus to minimize adhesions..I suspect you are talking about the scars where the fibroids were removed, but, at any rate, I would still like to know if she used this material to keep the adhesions to a minimal. I have 2 fibroids that have to be removed by abdominal myo and I am concerned about scarring because conceiving is my main objective. Good Luck! Thanks, SKY --- Presha Mustakas wrote: > I don't know the stats but I just had multiple > fibroids removed via myomectomy and my doctor was > very > positive that children would be possible. Guest guest
Hi Sky, Sorry I didn't respond sooner. My multiples were located submucal(sp?), when the doc looked on the sonogram she thought it was one big fibroid about the size of a tennis ball. After surgery, she said it was a cluster of them (didn't give me an acutal count). I'm not sure of the material layered on the uterus that you mentioned. I am seeing her tomorrow for a followup and I'll ask. I know she was doing the procedure with minimal scarring and fertility in mind. If concieving is your primary goal, definitely see a fertility specialist. Ask how many myos the doctor does and if they have any stats on pregnancy rates post myo. Ask if they have ever resorted to historectomies during a myo - I didn't want to wake up without my uterus - without my permission! I'll let you know about the material you mentioned after my visit with my doc.
