Guest guest
Hi hun, Well a T3 rush is when your body receives T3 and all of a sudden it is a little too much. This is seen with shakey hands, heart rate up a little, edgey, nervous and it only lasts for a little while...maybe 10 minutes TOPS. This happens quite often when a person has just begun taking armour and the body is trying to adjust to that T3 that it has needed for soooo long and is now getting; but the body doesn't know just quite how to handle it. It is a normal reaction...but if this T3 rush lasts longer than say at the most 10 minutes..the patient is usually on too high of a dose at that time. It happened to me when I would increase my meds per docs orders. He would always remind me to watch for those symptoms...but not to be too alarmed unless they lasted a while. Mine would last maybe 4 minutes..and then I'd be fine. A very good way to check and see if your body is getting the correct amount of Armour or a T3 med is to take your basal temp. Before rising it should be 98.0. If your temp is that degree your body is on the correct amount. After rising if you'd like to retake it...it should be a normal 98.6. I am right now dealing with adrenals on a personal level and trying to also help my sister in law. If anyone has personal experience with adrenals/adrenal meds/help. Please feel free to flood me with info. My symptoms seem to be...can't fall asleep, sluggish upon waking, pain in my rib cage area(the actual ribs are sore), dizzy upon standing, off balance on occasion, weight gain in my tummy/hips/thighs area, migraines for days at a time. I have read that these tend to fall in the adrenal disorder area. Is this true..any help is appreciated!! Ty Does anyone on this site see Dr. Milton in Georgia? Hugs to all PattiSue 29:11 Re: (Patti) Need help........ Hi there Patti. Tell us what you mean by a T3 rush. Guest guest
You're showing the exact symptoms I had before going on adrenal supps.... What I'm taking is Natural Desiccated Bovine Adrenal from Nutri-Meds. That and DHEA..... I now have a normal rhythm, sleepy and night, waking on my own, without alarm, between 6 and 7, even if I'm up late the night before. NO MORE RIB pain on waking! That used to be horrid.... you didn't want to go to bed at night because you know that you'd be hurting so bad in the morning that if someone broke into the house and pointed a shot gun and said 'You're money or your life! " You'd grab the shot gun, hold it to your chest and say you can take the money, but shoot me too, PLEASE! One of the best things about being on the adrenal now is that when I need my adrenals to kick in they do. I can mad, and happy, and can drum up a spurt of energy when I need it... I laugh out loud again.... yes, part of that is better thyroid support but it got a ton better once I added the adrenal. I can't say enough good things about it.... To be sleepy at night and crawl in bed and go to sleep. To wake in the morning and have enough get up and go to quick go out and shovel then eat breakfast!!! that was me, just a few days ago! It's such a marvelous feeling!!!! If you'd like to check out the Nutri-Meds products: www.nutri-meds.com They have sections for both thyroid and adrenal, among a lot of other things..... I love these guys... I found them in July of '02.... ....added note.... I multi-dose my thyroid and adrenal. Thyroid is now 6 times a day.. first does upon waking, last dose as I go to bed. Adrenal is now 4 times a day... first one after breakfast.... last one a bit before suppertime.... to give my adrenals the first part of the day to relax, the time that they are most stressed out... and then allow them to do their own thing the rest of the day. (so, no adrenal between 5 pm and 8 am) Topper () On Thu, 18 Dec 2003 13:10:39 -0500 " VITO LABELLARTE " writes: > Hi hun, Well a T3 rush is when your body receives T3 and all of a > sudden it is a little too much. Guest guest
Thankyou LInda, I was told about the adrenal support. And I am going to visit this website and see what they have to offer. The other one that was given to me was Cytozyme-Ad. And I also know that Celtic Sea Salt is very good for adrenal support. At one time when I was having panic attacks, my doc put me on Cortisol. But was we all know we can't stay on that forever. It was wonderful. My scalp stopped itching (that was a symptom I forgot to tell you about.) and I felt totally complete. Right now I have absolutely NO ambition, I could care less about just about every thing. It is scaring me. I cannot drum up ANY energy, or even a spurt of energy. I am not motivated at all. Is this normal also? Thank you for your help, Please keep the ideas and thought coming. Do you think I also need the DHEA? I do. Patti 29:11 Re: Re: (Patti) Need help........ Guest guest
I know the feeling.. sitting in a chair thinking of all the things that you should do.... things that you want to do... things that would be fun to do....and never going beyond the thinking of it... some days not even thinking about it 'cause you know you're not going to do it anyway.... DHEA.... I havent' been able to test for anything, no money or insurance, I've strictly been going by my symptoms... One of my symptoms was no body hair.... I'm talking legs... the little hairs on my arms.. and torso..... After being on the Adrenal for about a month and then starting DHEA... it was about two months later that my leg hairs came back... and the little hairs on my arms.... all of them pointing to sex hormones that were out of whack.... The DHEA is broken down into the other hormones that the body needs, in the proportions that are needed - testosterone and estrogen... I still believe that our bodies can do a lot of fixing/repairing/adjusting... if we provide the nutrients and assistance that we can so that it has the tools to do so. I know a lot of the folks use cortisol, progesterone and other stuff and are having excellent results... I chose to go this route, first, because I do not need a prescription and the price is right... AND I have a personal believe that if give the adrenal glandular that our bodies will benefit from it as much as we benefit from thyroid glandulars like Armour. I think that our bodies make use the raw product in it to make what they need.... just like the DHEA.... Guest guest
Thank you...again! My nutritionist had me on allnatural progesterone right after I had my son back in April of 2002. I think I may begin using that cream again too. If I put all three of them together I think I will feel much better. I hate this feeling of no motivation. It isn't me. I have always had good energy and worked hard. Until about 5 years ago when the thyroid took a dump....then I got on Armour 3 years ago. I was doing so good...lost all the weight, looked and felt great. I know I will always need my Armour. Lately I've been realizing something just isn't right. It isn't like it was before the Armour. It is basically the same...only different and not as severe and I am convinced now that I need DHEA, Bovine Adrenal and progesterone. I will start only with the Adrenal first though. Then add the DHEA then the progesterone. I'll keep you up to date , please keep in touch. PattiSue 29:11 Re: Re: (Patti) Need help........ You might also get your female hormones checked. Those symptoms could fall in that area, too! I had the surprise of my life when after I started on Isocort, my female hormonal symptoms got better. Hooray!! But I am probably not taking enough as they have returned. Janie aka ThyroDiva
Guest guest
WEll I am due for my yearly in February. And ya know, depression did enter my mind...but it isn't any where near as bad as I remember it being when I was depressed. You aren't going to believe this though..I am on 360 mgs a day of Armour. Taken 180 in the am and 180 at night. I feel my dosage is too high to begin with. I was told that 300 is replacement levels. I still have my thyroid...yet the left lobe is dead. I just need something to give....I can feel myself slipping away and I hate that feeling so much...it scares me and takes me back to those times when I was soooo ill. I plan on seeing doc asap. He is in Georgia and I am willing to go that far to see him whenever I have to. He is wonderful. Yet I tried for the last two years a doc here in Michigan...I should not have done that....Dr. Milton in Ga will know exactly what to do for me and I hope that I haven't ruined myself because I chose to go to the doc closer to me. I know I am sounding pretty scattered right now and I am sorry. My short term memory is starting to go bad again too. UGH!! I need blood work ups again to see where everything is at so I can go from there. At the last check of my blood work everything was looking real good. I can't see increasing my armour dosage...I really think it is adrenals...my face breaks out, but it isn't regular pimples and my scalp itches something terrible. I have scratched it to bleeding, and my hair is beginning to come out again. No where near as bad as before, but it is. Am I making any sense? LOL Any suggestions will be so appreciated. Hugs..Patti Re: (Patti) Need help........ Patti, how much Armour are you on? What you describe sounds like depression, also. And what was your last fT3 lab, if you have one?? Guest guest
6 grains!!!!!! Really!! Amazing. Though I think you have others issues to treat like the adrenals, you might try dividing that 6 grains better throughout the day. Multi-dosing is very helpful. And you need more of that during the day. An example: take one grain when you wake up, then another 2 hours later, another 2 hours later, etc. Also, are you doing it sublingually? That means to let it dissolve slowly in your mouth where the tiny capillaries that line the mouth can take that Armour directly to your bloodstream, bypassing the acids of the stomach and the processing of the liver. I put mine between the lower inner gums and cheeks. There is less saliva there for me. You might find that the above method gives you more thyroid hormones. Are you on Estrogen or iron?? Are you taking a lot of calcium?? Also, have you had your Ferritin tested? What about EBV? I hope you will go ahead and order the adrenals, whether Nutri-Meds, Isocort, or whatever. Then you'll have a little time to try it out. You stay in touch with us!! We want you to feel better. We are all in the same boat, and situations can happen to any of us!! Guest guest
I would be happy to share my story with you all.... Back in October of 2000 after suffering needlessly for years...going to doc after doc after doc..and getting no results I went to Georgia to see Dr. Milton. He diagnosed me with Hypothyroidism...it was pretty bad as my muscle testing scores were extremely bad. My blood work up showed a very very low T3 level. I wasn't reverse T3 and my antibodies were high. I cannot remember the other tests I know there were more etc. My am cortisol came back normal. He put me on 60 mgs of Armour the first week, 120 the second week, 180 the third and so on. I peaked at 240 after about 5 weeks of therapy. **I need you to know also that my symptoms were leaving me left and right...My body was loving the Armour. My doc told me that I was a " poster child " for Armour LOL** I was good there for about 6 months..when I needed to adjust to the changing weather and increase my meds by 30 up to 270. Then about 6 months later I increased to 290 and so on. It has been three years now since I began on Armour and I just increased to 360 about 4 months ago. I must tell you that I am on the generic Armour and I am told that it isn't as strong. When I changed from Armour brand to generic I immediately had to increase I could tell the difference. My left lobe is completely de-funct. It no longer works. Without this medicine I would be dead and I am not kidding. Do you think that I am on too much? I know it is a high dose yet, if I take any less I am miserable with symptoms and weight gain. I am to see my doc by this February and I'll know more about my blood work then. The last blood work up I had was last February and I was at 300mgs. Everything looked right where it was suppose to. The T3 was high...but I accidentally took my meds an hour before the blood test was taken...and we know that is a NO NO. I can fill you in with better details after this next blood draw. I am hoping that more is found as far as adrenals so that I can get that taken care of too. I feel miserable these past few days/week and I just wanna feel better. I would love to hear what you think. When I have the extra money I take T-100 it is a holistic thyroid supplement along with kelp and K-Factors (for my heart) I am just kinda confused right now as to what to do next Most say that Dr. Milton works aggressively...I agree, but my body could take it and I love him for saving my life. Guest guest
You are so precious...ty. I've not had my ferritin checked that I know of. And yes I believe there is more going on...has been for a while now. I take my armour 180 AM 180 PM.....I've thought of spreading it out....I should try that. I used to take my Armour sublingually..until I got the generic LOL it tastes sooooooooo bad. I guess I'll have to go back to doing it that way too. I would let it dissolve under my tongue for a few then chew it. I am not on estrogen. A hair sample test taken showed I am progesterone deficient. But that was a year ago and I should be checked again. Not on calcium or iron...I used to...but with mounting bills and stuff going on I just can't afford it. I talked it over with my hubby this after noon and he agreed that I need to order the nutri-med and I am going to. I have to do something cuz I am getting no where. I homeschool my kids..I have four, but school three...I feel overwhelmed and quite tired...and have no ambition to do anything. It is a bad situation when I get feeling like this. Thank God that my two older ones have video school this year because I would be totally overwhelmed. I can handle my 3rd grader for now. Thank you for caring about me...I have been advocating for the thyroid now for over 3 years not only for the state of Michigan but for many around the world...but now I need help in an area that I am not quite clear about and knowing that you all care and can help me...is just a true Blessing. God bless you all..and thank you PattiSue 29:11 Re: (Patti) Need help........ 6 grains!!!!!! Really!! Amazing. Guest guest
Amazing story, Patti. Thank you for the details. We don't often have someone on that much!! And I loved this comment that you were the poster child for Armour!!! So you definitely noticed a difference between Generic and Armour?? That is good information for the group to have. If you don't have any symptoms of hyper, and if you feel worse on less, then it doesn't sound like you are on too much. You are a classic case of how symptoms MUST be more important than labs. I do think, though, that you might do better if you space those 6 grains out during the day, and do them sublingually. Hopefully you have read my other post above.... Actually, it's not bad to test your blood after you have taken your meds. It gives you an interesting look at how high your free T3 gets. And do try adrenal support as I mentioned in the above post, whether it's Nutrimeds, Isocort, or whatever. It's safe and you can get an idea if it's what you needed all along before you go to that doc. Janie aka ThyroDiva )
Guest guest
I do have one question... Does the adrenal support meds help with weight gain? I have 20 lbs that I just cannot get off. It is all over..but concentrated in my hips, thighs and tummy. Will this bovine adrenal help in losing those unwanted pounds? I lost 4....and miraculously...they are back on this morning!! Thanks Patti Re: (Patti) Need help........ Guest guest
Whether it does or not (which I don't know), if it makes you feel better, you'll be more active, and that definitely helps. grin Did you understand what we were saying about multi-dosing and sublingual?? Guest guest
Yes I totally understand about multi dosing and sublingually taking my meds. I did sublingual last night and this morning. But I must admit I am in such a habit , I just automatically took my 180 this am. I will break it up from here on out the rest of the day. At noon I will take 30 then at 3 I will take 30 more and so on. I have another question though...what is your thoughts about watching your iron and calcium intake within a four hour period of time after taking the Armour? I was always told to take any calcium or iron supplements or food containing either one four hours after taking my dose. So this multi dosing eliminates that. And what is your thoughts on eating food with your doses as opposed to fasting for 2 hours. I am sure that sublingually taking my meds will make the difference on whether I eat right away or not. I have been doing it this one way for so long I will need to constantly remind myself LOL. I just want you to know how much I appreciate your help and support at this time. God brings just the right people into our lives at just the right time...and I am very thankful for that and you and all the ladies here that are trying to help me. (((hugs))) I am going to purchase the nutri meds today...and I believe that I also need dhea...do you agree? PattiSue 29:11 Re: (Patti) Need help........ Guest guest
Well for me that will be hard. I am anemic and have to take 325 mg of iron three times a day. I also take Armour 3x a day. I can't figure out how to do this. Re: (Patti) Need help........ Guest guest
Taking the meds sublingually eliminates the issues of absorption and binding with calcium and iron..... and taking them sublingually means that food in the stomach and issues with absorption and binding are no longer a problem either... Currently I'm on 3 grain of Generic Armour, taken in 6 doses, I eat 'min-meals' every 2 to 3 hours and take my calcium and iron in the evening, about an hour before my bedtime and my last thyroid dose of the day. I am a big time believer in small doses of just about everything throughout the day... I even started chopping my multi-vitamins so that I can take them with each of my mini-meals during the day.... Guest guest
For me, the logic seems that if you sublingual the thyroid dose and get it actively in your system... then wait about an hour do the iron... then iron is in the stomach and has to do all the breakdown, digestion absorption stuff.... the thyroid is already active in the blood and doing it's thing and such before the iron even hits the blood stream.... Your thyroid is done three times a day.. so that's roughly, what, 4, 6 or 8 hours apart... depending on how late you do your last dose... so it should work .....
