Enteric coated supplements and Ileostomy

Hi All,

I have a patient who had ulcerative colitis and had ileostomy surgery 40-50

years ago, he is 70 and doing well with handling the ileostomy. However, he is

thinking of taking SAM-e supplement which often is in a form that is enteric

coated. Would there be a problem in absorption. He had been told many years

ago to avoid enteric coated products because of the surgery he had.

Will appreciate any input you can provide.
