actually, if not mistaken and pat please help out here I'm no expert, when you

crash having hypoglycimia it is best to eat a sandwhich or a carb that digests

slowly since sugar in the blood just makes you crank out more insulin quickly

and makes you go even lower.

Re: Diabetic crash ?

Pat and ,

If my buddy were truly hypoglycemic and NOT diabetic, then what else could I

tell him to do other than limit his carbs? As Pat aptly pointed out, it

seems like any carb amount could still bring him down after he peaks, but is

there much else that can be done for this guy?

What I told him was to cut his carbs and when his sugar would crash, to use

a glucose tablet like I do, since we know it brings up sugar in a very

regulated manner instead of overshooting as things like OJ, crackers et al

would.

Any more thought???

Thanks,

Bill

Hmm,

I need to think on this for a moment. I saw 's original post but

it did not necessarily sink in.

I have had some friends who were Hypoglycemic and everyone would run to

their rescue when they were having a problem - carrying orange juice,

candy bars and all manner of other " quick sugar " fixes.

ya, the only reason I faintly recall this is my cousin growing up was

hypoglycemic. When he got low and shaky he would eat a sandwich and told me he

couldn't eat candy and the sort for it would make him passout and so on. He

carried candy on him just inn case he had to eat something to prevent absolute

pass out but he rarely used it. He ate a baked potato often times to since it

digested slowly and would raise his blood sugar too.

A glucose tab would help h im temporarily, but after that he should eat

something like peanut butter, which as slow acting carb, but protein and fat

too. You might look up hypoglycemia on the google search.slow acting carbs

are what is best for him.
