Donna:

I'm going to check around for another Dr and another opinion.

Unfortunately, I live in Montana and there aren't many " experts " close by.

I don't even know if we have a reproductive endrocronologist. I've never

heard of it before. How are you feeling now? Are your symptoms gone?

,

I have never heard of a reproductive endrocrinologist before I joined

this group. They specialize in microsurgery and in preserving the

uterus. They do more myomectomies than your usual gynecologist. The

gynecologists I saw all recommended a hysterectomy. Gynecologists

usually don't have the microsurgery skills to do myomectomies

successfully, so they recommend taking the whole uterus out.

I am feeling great. I mainly had bulk symptoms such as frequent

urination, constipation, and a bulging stomach. Most of my symptoms

are gone now. I also don't have the cramping that I used to get on

the first day of my period.

What you can do is call the teaching hospitals in Montana or the

surrounding states and ask who does the most myomectomies.

Good luck,

Donna

I, too, found a specialist in reproductive medicine to

remove my 'multiple fibroids' (ie too many for them to

count or maybe they were just lazy). I want more

children so a specialist was advised by my gyno as

surgery can cause scarring and cause another problem

all together if you don't have the right person doing

the job.

Four days ago I had an adominal myomectomy. Was in

the hospital one day and am recouperating at home. I

am amazed that the pain is not as bad as I thought -

I'm a weeny when it comes to pain. The procedure went

smoothly.

You should seek a specialist..and keep seeking until

you find one that will do the myomectomy. Good Luck!
