think I figured Jens numbers before and wasnt she on over 1500 cals??

Maybe you need to reduce cals?? rather then add! Has she gained

weight since starting the diet??

She lost 1.5 lbs in a week & I have already added food -she was supposed to be

on 1560 -but their calculations were way off so I don't know what she was

really on. I have started to use the mealplanner now so I will figure myself.

I found that with s numbers, we figured to high he was hungry,

and he was also gaining weight. now that we have his weight stable

and calories stable, hes not hungry at all. THats the good thing about

ketosis...it should eliminate hunger!

That's what they say but Jen has been in ketosis and starving.

I weigh Bry every 2 weeks, at this point Jens weight should be stable!

I will try to weigh her at the health department every week.

I remember going over her numbers and her protein was low...I would try

adding extra protein.

I already have. According to Freeman she should be on 28gm for her weight

but in her case I don't think that's enough. I am thinking it should be what

a child her age should weigh instead. In fact I am thinking that if a

child's weight is in the 25th percintile for height like Jen the diet should

calculated considering the calories & protein they previously ate to maintain

their weight in the 25th percentile.

What types of menus do you have?? Jen is GFCF-no diary-she is very

allergic but I could use it as a special treat. We use coconut milk for

" ice cream " she does like her food she just wants more & has temper tantrums

or cries if she can't have more. We always ate healthy so she never had junk

food. She alway ate alot though and never gained weight except when she

grows-always maintained the 25th percentile.

I have a 15 year old, who started

the diet at 11...we have had to be very creative to get him to follow

the diet! there are also certain things that only he can have in our

house!

Macadamia nuts for one...and certain meals the other kids would love

to have...I take pepperoni, add a touch of tomato sauce, top with motz

cheese put them in the broiler to melt the cheese and whaa laaa...mini

pizzas! (actually they are very good) I feed him things like cheese

burgers, Taco salad, tuna salad, ham roll ups...these are his favs...

Im offering to figure meal plans for you...maybe if we put our heads

together we can come up with some things She likes!

Thanks! She would like a ham roll up-or bologna or liverwurst-but if she

only gets 1/2 a slice she will flip out. It is worse to give her something

she really likes cause then she wants more.

Sorry to read bout the Dh...Ive never had the full support of mine

either, but what I did was put it in the hands of ...I have always

discussed things fully with and left the option up to him.

I can't do that with Jen as she is cognatively delayed and doesn't seem

understand the concept of time. She also doesn't understand the potental

benefits of the diet. In some ways she is very bright -excellent memory- but

she is not very verbal so it is hard to tell how much she does understand and

hard to have a real conversation with her.

Last night I rented " First Do No Harm " during the movie she kept asing me

" what happened " every time the child had a seizure. After the movie the only

thing she said was her new mantra " I don't like the diet "

We

decided to give the diet 1 full year...then at the end of that time give

up or go on....well now its been over 4 1/2 years and were still doing

it! Bry knows how he feels on Drugs and how he felt without them

and he wants to continue the diet. Convince her to give the diet

at least enough time to work...if at that point it isnt working then the

decision will be up to her to quit...I would try at least 1 year if you

can convince her of that...at least 6 months.

oh...one other thing I thought of, to get s cooperation in the

beginning I bought him off...in the beginning I did 3 month intervals,

awarding him with a big prize...puppy, game boy, ect. At the

two year mark the Starlight foundation sent us to Disney. now we

just do the yearly benchmarks...but I still give him money. Any time

we eat out or eat a snack in front of him that he cant have he gets

a buck! That kid has a ton of money! Try it....Bribery worked every

time with my kids!

Jen is cooperating because she has to not because she wants to. She is very

protected and not in a position to get her own food. She can't buy anything

as she doesn't understand money-way behind in math. One of the things my

husband " threatened me " with is that when Jen turns 18 she will be able to

leagally walk out the door & never come back and will do so because she

resents me. He doesn't realize that at 18 Jen will need legal guardianship

and will probably never be legally or emotionally capable of being

independent. He leaves everything regarding her up to me and makes his role

the critic. He will agree or disagree. He also would prefer if I just did

everything he wanted using his intuition and not bother with " those

professionals " or read any books.

So lemme know on thoes meal plans...Ive been doing this a long

long time...(to long)...I will help if i can.

What do you put in your rollups ( I would use the free lettuce leaf & mayo )

& how do you do the taco salad? I just make Jen Pumpkin with ghee -ciniman &

oil - & she loved it.

Cya
