Message from H.E. Syed Sibtey Razi, Governor of Jharkhand, on WAOD.

Dear Forum,

Hope members are well aware about the importance of 7th of May in

our commitment towards fighting issues related with HIV/AIDS, the

day is being observed as World AIDS Orphans Day (WAOD). Objective of

dedicating a day in calendar year is to form a Social Security Net

for Care and support to Orphans and Vulnerable Children in the wake

of the pandemic.

FXB India Society, Jharkhand Chapter highlighted issues related with

WAOD in following ways:

1. Informing policy makers, leaders, concerned government and

private department regarding the need and importance of the day.

This has been done in order to mobilize support and influence

decision in favors of OVCs in the wake of HIV/AIDS pandemic.

2. Mass awareness to sensitise, motivate and form social consensus

for positive attitude towards OVCs in society.

3. Planning and provision for Care and Support to OVCs.

I am pleased to inform that the commitment in Jharkhand towards Care

and Support to OVCs received a real Boost when His Excellency

Governor of Jharkhand wrote a message calling upon people of

Jharkhand to reach out to help children orphaned or made vulnerable

by AIDS or HIV infection. My pleasure quote the Message from Hon. Governor of

Jharkhand State, Shri Sibtey Razi-

" I am Happy to know that Francois Xavier Bagnoud India Society is

observing world AIDS Orphans Day.AIDS Orphans Day provides an

important support activity aimed at raising awareness of the plight

of these children and at encouraging donors and international

organizations to make education and health care for these children a

top priority in years to come. AIDS Orphans Day is a time to

recognize the needs of these abandoned children, often stigmatized

and rejected with no one to look after them because their families

have been destroyed in this devastating epidemic.

I call upon the people of Jharkhand to reach out to create a social

security net for orphans and vulnerable children whose families are

affected by AIDS

I extend my good wishes for the achievement of this nobel cause. "
