I think it's more than just their heads in the sand...One of the doctors I work for uses WP 5.1, and in the office they have it on an old, OLD 286 machine. It's really not the doctor as much as the office manager. He is bringing on a new partner next month and I practically begged her to get a stand-alone Windows-based machine for the dictation. Once she found out it cost $1500, she said no way. " Why would I spend that much money when we have a machine that works fine? " (meaning the 286). Of course, this is also the OM who buys 1 ream of letterhead and makes copies off of it (who cares if it is crooked, or blurry). Drives me nuts because it makes the doctor look so bad when all the other letters come in looking so good, and he's a brain surgeon! My VET has better letterhead, but that's because " Your vet gets 100% reimbursed and we don't. " <sigh> She SAYS the only one tighter than she is is the doctor, but I seriously doubt it. WordPerfect is available in a Windows-based version, it's not as expensive as Word, and you can use many of the same keyboard commands you've already learned (alt + F3 is still Reveal Codes; Shift + F7 is still Center Justify; Alt + F7 is still Right Justify). You can also get a version that comes with an almost-freebie Dragon Naturally Speaking (or you could before Dragon and L & H merged). If your computer supports Word, it will support WordPerfect. The program should print on your inkjet if you have the right printer tables installed.
