Very confused 5 days before scan

I have so many questions I'm not even sure where to

start. Today I went for my bloodtest, the scan is

scheduled for next Wed., 7/18.

I'm of those with antibodies, so TG is useless. My

doctor also told me that thyrogen in future scans

might also be useless because he's gotten some false

negatives in patients with antibodies. He also cancels

out the periodic ultrasound and quarterly bloodtest to

look for any change in TG. He mentioned a PET scan,

but I don't know what that means, and being very foggy

I didn't think to ask. He told me a month ago that

since I didn't have ablation when I had my TT last

year (just 28mci RAI for the scan, a lot for a test

I'm told) he's leaning towards a large treatment dose

(don't know how large is large). Today he tells me

everything will be decided by the scan.

Part of me felt like yelling: Then give me ablation

dose and get this misery over with quick!!! Of course,

I didn't and then thought I would have made a big fool

of myself if I had demanded RAI. But now that I think

about it, I've been living with the doubts and fears

for a year exactly because I didn't have RAI.

I'm confused. What should I be looking for at this

point in my treatment? What should I expect next week?

Last year's experience seems so blurred in my memory I

can't remember the order of things. I know I'll arrive

at the hospital and be given a pill, small RAI for the

scan. Then what? Is the scan the same day? Seems like

last year I had to do a neck scan, something about a

knee to double check (I have no idea what), and the

full body scan. I remember taking 2 different pills

(I123 and I131) in 2 different days. After one of

those pills they did the neck scan and then later they

checked my left knee. After the other pill they

strapped me to a table and did the full body, but I

think I had to go back a couple of days later and

redo. Don't remember why. Is my memory faulty, or is

this usual? The more I think about it, the less I

remember.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Mara
