Guest guest
Good going ! I think your lab results are just fine. Did you do some strenuous exercises three or four days before having your blood drawn? Strenuous exercise a couple of days before the creatinine level is measured can cause a rise in the creatinine level reading. Congratulations to you for backing off on that carb consumption, which your A1C shows you lowered it from the time before this last reading. latest blood results > > Hi All. > > ok, just got my lab results in as follows: > > a1c 5.3 > > trigliserites 53 > hdl 59 > ldl 86 > total cholesterol 156 > > > Pat, there was a slight increase in my creatine and bun. Guest guest
thanks harry! and yes, backing off the carbs, getting my 2 hour post meal consistently 120 or less shows me an a1c of 5.3 *big smile*. what is even more amazing is this... when my a1c was 5.8, my ldl was 120 and went up. Now my a1c is 5.3 and my ldl is 86 which is what it was prior to the a1c of 5.8. So it went like this... and notice the pattern it is amazing! * a1c of 5.3 ldl is 83 * wait 3 months and all along eating more carbs * a1c of 5.8 ldl is 120 * wait three months until next a1c lowering carbs again * now a1c is 5.3 ldl is back to 86 amazing! the data is amazing to me! High blood sugar, in this data, shows that it increases ldl cholesterol. I was eating more carbs so it could have done it too. Guest guest
ya Cy, you know exactly what " no pain no gain " means. Problem with most americans is we love comfort and any sign of discomfort... we want it to go away. With diabetics, our discomfort is not being able to eat what we want to eat. Guest guest
1. drink water before the test or at least a lot of water before you have to be NPO. 2. there is always a 10% range of error in any blood test, so I would not worry about that small and increase. Take care, as I know you do. Hope Mommy and baby are doing well. latest blood results Hi All. ok, just got my lab results in as follows: a1c 5.3 trigliserites 53 hdl 59 ldl 86 total cholesterol 156 Pat, there was a slight increase in my creatine and bun. Guest guest
Hi Dave. good questions. if I eat 30 grams of carbs at a meal, I only have to dose 4 units of H, 2 units per 15 grams, and my two hour post meal is about 109 or so and i don't ever go low. My next pre meal is around 70 to 80. Now, if I eat 60 grams at a meal, and dose 8 to 10 units, yes, my 2 hour post meal is low, around 55 to 60, and I eat 2 glucose tablets to combat the low so never go low, per say. so, small numbers, small mistakes, large numbers, large mistakes. Guest guest
Six.2 is not bad, but the goal is to be under that. Probably eating 1800 or even less calories will help you lose weight. Yes, total amount of calories is as important as low carbs. I know a guy who was on the Atkins diet an has steadly gained weight; this is because he eats so many calories in protein and high carb vegetables. But, probably you need to eat only 60 carbs a day instead of 90 (which eating 2 pieces of whatever carb products you are now eating. also, slow acting carbs are better than the fast acting ones) Re: latest blood results Perhaps you fall inline somewhat with the 6 small meal concept? Would you say you eat about 2 carbs per meal, or let's say, 6 times per day? Just what is a good carb intake count for a diabetic like me who is, 49 years old, male, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 164 lbs, 36 inch waist, not as active as I should be or would like to be? My creatine clearance is around 1.9, and so am on a somewhat restricted protein diet. I don't think I ever eat more than 2 carbs per meal actually, but I think I probably end up eating more carbs than I should by the time the end of the day rolls around. Is there any substance or credibility given to being on a certain number of calaories per day diet? I know years ago, it seems I was on like a 2000 calory diet. That seems like a lot of food, but I'm not going to bother figuring it out at this moment. The little numbers and little mistakes motto makes me think about my total caloric intake a little more, and I wonder if I'm just plain eating too much, and taking more insulin than I need to, and dealing with the larger numbers and larger mistakes analogy you portray. My last a1c was 6.2, my hdl was 33, and my ldl was 114. My tryglycerids were 48 however, which were very good. Anyway, feed-back welcome as usual. Guest guest
Hi Dave. I eat 3 meals a day and at each meal, 30 grams of carbs. So my total carbs a day is 90. I.E 30 for breakfast, 30 for lunch, and 30 for dinner. When I say carbs, I mean carbs... bread, cereal, etc. and in between meals I eat meat such as cheese, turkey, etc. and snack on a salad if need be. I don't watch my protein intake any more since after reading bernstein's book, I realized that it isn't meat causing the kidney damage but rather my high blood sugars. My kidney doc says he doesn't ever see me needing a transplant as long as I keep things / my a1c at 5.3 like I have been. He feels that could preserve my kidneys for the rest of my life since the high sugar in the blood isn't there to destroy them. Guest guest
I agree with doctor Bernstein. It is the carbs and not the protein that causes kidney damage. latest blood results > > > > > > Hi All. > > > > ok, just got my lab results in as follows: > > > > a1c 5.3 > > > > trigliserites 53 > > hdl 59 > > ldl 86 > > total cholesterol 156 > > > > > > Pat, there was a slight increase in my creatine and bun. > Before my > > creatinine was 1.7 and now it is 1.8. my bun was 22 and it > was 23. Guest guest
I would like to see my weight around 160. And, yes, it is all in the one area for sure. My body fat is non-existent except in the abdomen, and perhaps more specifically, the sides. I had been as high as 181 over 2 years ago, but I decided to change some things, including eating better and doing some excercise and the weight came off nearly instantly.
