Guest guest
Happy New Year. I have been taking Slow FE, slow release iron, for a few weeks in preparation for a myomectomy on January 18, 2001. The instructions did not tell me what to avoid while taking it. Because I got some diarrhea the other day, I was concerned. I also developed some redness and itchiness on my upperlip (which is an embarrassing place to get redness). (My coworkers asked me what did I eat.) Today, while searching Yahoo, I came up with this precaution: " You should not use iron at the same time as certain foods (such as eggs, milk, cheese, yogurt, tea or coffee, cereals, whole-grain breads). " http://health.yahoo.com/health/drugs_tree/medication_or_drug/0052/index2.html I didn't know that. The Slow FE box did not say anything about food. The day I got diarrhea, I did take my Slow FE with a slice of cheese cake and tea. Yummy... I don't know how the diarrhea is related to the Slow FE. It is probably more related to lactose intolerance. I am disappointed that the manufacturer did not mention any precautions about food. I guess from now on, I will wait two hours between eating before I take the Slow FE. And after I finish the 60 day supply, I will stop taking it.
