Joe,

Please don't undo all your good work in Phase 1! I would be treating myself for wearing blue if I weren't careful! LOL

What kind of shells do you mean? Taco shells are off limits because they are made of corn. Whole wheat tortilla wraps are made by several companies and should be in your local store.

Started Phase 2

I started phase 2 after 16 days of phase 1.For lunch, I had a subway turkey wrap, I was bad as Ihad them put cheese on it. I figured I would "treat"myself for starting phase 2. My question is does any company make the shells that Icould buy in a grocry store? It was surpringly verytasty. Maybe tonight or tomorrow I will have an apple. I figured that since I forgot my string cheese this

morning, the cheese I had today will take care of that

plus the fat free cheese I usually put in my eggs.

The wrap was a wheat, soy, and sesame based flour. I

read on here that they are indeed legal, so that is

why I got it.

It was so good, I might just eat that for lunch

everyday and change the meats around.

I do notice a difference in how I look, but I refuse

to use a scale.

The wrap is legal, just be careful what's in it. I MUST try one of these!

Hi all,

I've been mostly lurking but thought i'd chime in here. I dont

understand why having cheese on your wrap is treating

yourself....isnt that allowed? Those subway wraps are so good, I

had one on Saturday. I'm a few days into phase 2 as well and have

lost about 7 pounds so far...i'm keeping starches down to 0-1 a day

and keeping my sweets to sugar-free fudge pops and sugar-free

jello. I noticed this morning that I can actually zip my " skinny "

jeans althouth they are still snug. Back on the shelf they go, til

they are comfy. Anyway, I dont think its a good idea, at least for

me, to be too stringent, otherwise, I know I'll end up quitting. I

feel way to good doing this diet to do that. Anyway, congrats on

your successful progress and keep it up! :)

For the Chinese buffet, a lot of these buffets have a 'Mongolian Grill', where they let you choose the raw ingredients and they cook it in front of you. If you can find one of these you can usually do pretty well.

Do a Mongolian hotpot aka Singapore Steamboat. Get out that old

fondue pot, fill it with boiling water, put the heat on and present

your family/guests with plates of thinly sliced beef, chicken,

veggies (mushrooms are good) and whatever strikes your fancy. As a

side, if you are Phase 2, present some brown rice to be put on the

plates ahead of time. Don't forget some dips.

The Mongolian hotpot dates back to the days when the Mongolians

invaded China (can you say Genghis Khan?). The Mongols would use

their helmet to boil water and would add dried meat, or whatever, for

a meal. I hear there are hotpot restaurants in China. Many years ago

Graham Kerr (The Galluping Gourmet) did a show on the Steamboat -

same idea.

If the cheese is reduced fat or fat free, it's legal. Otherwise, it's not.

Debbi,

I have never lost my sweet tooth but I feed it artificially sweetened things, like Splenda. Do you have a problem with those?

Re: Started Phase 2

This is my second week on Phase 2 I am still having cravings for sweets but only in the afternoon. I try to eat some cottage cheese around that time or get a frozen fruit bar with Nutra Sweet which they sell in the hospital where I work.We went to a Chinese buffett last weekend and I cheated for the first time and had a very small dish of ice cream. I am glad that most of my cravings for bread have vanished but I still have those sweet cravings. Anyone else have this problem or does the sweet cravings take longer to curb. Funny thing is I never had a sweet tooth - it was always bread and carbs that were my downfall. Its funny how things come to haunt you that you did not expect. At the buffett while waiting in line they had a vending machine that sold Skittles and I was SO tempted - I LOVE Skittles but I did not have one. I found the buffett pretty limiting - a lot of stuff was deep fried and breaded which I avoided - I only had stir fries with meat and veggies some shell fish, egg foo young with veggies, some fruit salad (apples, oranges and grapes) and my little treat of the ice cream - I am going to give this another month and if my cravings for sweets don't go I may give in but I will continue to avoid bread, pasta, rice and potatoes.Blessings,DebbiReminder: The South Beach Diet is not low-carb. Have you tried the ricotta desserts? I put it in the food processor to make it creamy and add lots of cocoa and splenda (more than the book says!) or lots of other flavorings. Or add splenda to non-fat plain yogurt.

If you have a lot more self control than I do, I think the sugar free candies from Stover's etc are OK on Ph1. But they may be just for Ph 2, sorry. They contain sugar alcohols which might cause stomache upset. Anyone remember what Phase they apply to?

I haven't tried the ricotta desserts - I don't like chocolate believe

it or not so I was hesitant to try them - I did buy some sugar free

popsicles to have but I can't keep them at work - I need something in

the afternoon I can snack on when I do get a craving I guess.

Yes, that's the idea. At the end of the meal you drink the " soup " .

IIRC with the Steamboat you use chicken stock and lots of seafood.
