Population Council will also have a booth and invite you to come by and take publications. Skills building session: Adherence Counselling for PLHA Friday, 21 April 2006, 11:00 a.m.–12:45 p.m. This workshop will provide participants with a basic understanding of the challenges of HAART and adherence to ART. At the end of the session participants will be able to independently conduct adherence risk assessment, prepare patient for initiation of ART, and provide ongoing support. This skills building work is suited for health care providers, counselors, and outreach workers who are involved in providing ART and counseling for PLHA. Satellite session: Operations Research That Makes a Difference to Policies and Programmes. Saturday, 22 April 2006, 3:30–4:45 p.m. The satellite session will consist of presentations from four ongoing operations research studies conducted in India. The presentations will cover a broad range of HIV/AIDS related issues: Gender equitable attitudes among young men, same sex behaviour among male truckers, adherence to antiretroviral therapy and HIV/AIDS related stigma in health care settings. The session will be inaugurated by Dr Ajay Khera, Joint Director, ART and Surveillance, NACO. Dr Clay, Chief of the Office of Population, Health, and Nutrition, USAID/India, will deliver a keynote address. Skills building session: Conducting Operations Research in the Field Sunday, 23 April 2006, 11:00 a.m.–12:45 p.m. This skill building session will provide participants with an overview of conduct HIV/AIDS field research studies. Topics include: concepts of operation research, objectives, OR questions, study design, qualitative approach vs. quantitative approach, and data collection instruments. This workshop is suited for HIV/AIDS researchers and programme managers to help them develop and conduct operations research.
