Guest guest
Here is a question re: Norvasc. I have hugely swollen ankles and lower legs, really all the way from knee to foot. Needless to say, I feel like a water balloon and find it difficult to walk. Are calcium channel blockers in general culprits in this type of side effect? (I think Norvasc is a CCB??) And -- Merry Christmas to all who keep it. Pat At 10:50 PM 12/23/2002, you wrote: >I NEVER knew until this group told me that cardizem was a culprit >with my hip and knee pain. Guest guest
Hi Cheryl, That all sounds like good news. How long were you taking Cardizem before you experienced side effects?? I am preparing a list to discuss with my doc - regarding all " side effects " that I am dealing with now. Hope you continue ridding yourself of yours, including hair loss. / > 4 days off of cardizem: > - my hip joints and knees are so greatly improved!! > > - Ankle edema is somewhat improved and will be better when I cut the > salt more after Christmas! > > - Can't, of course, tell about the hair regrowth at only 4 days! >
Guest guest
Hey , I developed the ankle edema immediately upon taking the cardizem. Since I didn't realize the joint pain was related, I'd guess that I was on cardizem for 4 or 6 months before the hip joint pain became very bad. Probably was an irritation earlier, but just ignored and blamed it on laying and sitting too much from being so tired from the a-fib. Hair loss seemed to get worse about 2 to 3 months into cardizem. I can feel the tiniest regrowth starting at scalp...at least I hope that it is!! Total, I took cardizem 7 months, and am GLAD to be rid of it!! 3 more months and some wt loss and maybe Dr will let me off of toprol!! Guest guest
Hey , Only a-fib I've had since on tikosyn was from lack of sleep and too much stress (episode was short lived) and twice when I had severe diarrhea from antibiotics(augmentin and flagyl) that caused electrolytes to get out of whack...those episodes lasted much longer (over 24 hrs) until body adjusted itself after stopping antibiotics. No a-fib since stopping cardizem. I have to drink a gallon of go-lytely for a colonoscopy in Jan, so not looking forward to possible a-fib from that since I will be off of coumadin for a few days. EP said it was ok as risk is over time and the a-fib, if it happens, should be short-lived. I've considered trying rogaine...how does it affect clean hair when placed on the roots. I always thought it would make my hair look oily and unclean. Also, hear if one perspires, that you have to be careful to get the rogaine off the forehead if perspiration were to run off of scalp to the face. What did your dermatologist say about that? I've been using the Progaine shampoo and conditioner, but they do not haver the rogaine ingredients. Name is probably just hype to sell the products! I decided to try Rogain and see whether that > will help. > > I am curious how you are currently doing.
