Guest guest
I have had my Pacemaker since July 2000 - and except for the every two month check up by phone, I wouldn't even know it was there. It's a Kappa DR701 Dual Chamber Pacemaker with two pacing leads, one placed in the atrium, and the other in the ventricle. It monitors both atrial and ventricular activity to see if pacing is needed. When pacing does occur, the contraction of the atria is followed closely by a contraction in the ventricles, resulting in timing that closely mimics the heart's natural way of working. It's set between 80 & 100 (I think - oh...I'm having a senior moment)! It's about the size of a half dollar, and I think it may be either the same or very similar to Walt's. Also, like Walt, it works well for me - and I'm sure dern glad its there! You can get more detailed information about Medtronic's Pacemakers on their website: www.Medtronic.com If any of our members have a Pacemaker, we would encourage you to add your name to our Pacemaker database; or if you are just interested in who and how many of us have a Pacemaker, you can check it out. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AFIBsupport/database Ellen ********************** My pacemaker is about the size of a 50 cent piece, and as thick as 2 50 cent pieces together. (snip)It works very well for me. Walt ***********************
