Guest guest
D, These vitamin and mineral (and carnitine) levels have to be asked for specifically. Many of them have to be sent off to another lab, so this takes a while. Here's how we do bloodwork: over the course of time, I read and read of what everyone else is ordering, then I let my doc know what I'm reading and worried about. He also adds what he is concerned with and we go from there. Remember, we have no keto team (just me, my pediatrician, and the LORD). My pediatrician has been learning, just as I have. He usually orders a CBC (I think it is a complete blood count) and a CMP (complete metabolic profile) and a lipid profile and any other thing that we are concerned with. My doc is very open to me asking for specifics, I mean, they are already drawing blood, why not satisfy the mom by honoring her request!?! Unlike some docs, he is very respectful of what the mothers on our list have " uncovered. " He has never once discounted what I've learned from this list (trust me, I'm super thankful!). My neuro is clueless on bloodwork, he's never once even asked about bloodwork (since we are off AEDs), he is very uneducated on the diet.
