I'm glad no one was seriously hurt....another reminder about seat

belts....i know i am sometimes lax about wearing mine...hearing this

story serves as a good reminder for me....

Oh-- absolutely. Seat belts, air bags and the car is designed to crush at

selected points. So the outside crushes instead of the passenger

compartment. Cars are MUCH safer than when I was a kid.

Welcome back Terri!

I did the same thing you have done, but I did it two years ago, and due to

getting back in touch I am still alive today. Had I not done so, I don't

believe I would have been around until now. I have never met Connie's

husband, so I hope he is just stubbotrn and not stupid. If he follows the

advice offered here, I am sure he will be a lot better off in a few months

and maybe even sooner. I asked for help here, and I got it. I even taught

my doctor what I learned here and now my doctor is a better doctor. I also

stopped the dramatic decline in my health due to diabetes and even

eliminated some of the complications of diabetes by following what was

advised here. As I reflect on the matter, I can certainly say there is a

fine line between being stubborn and stupid. Also there is only one big

difference between intelligence and stupidity. Intelligence has its limits.

So, if your diabetes has gotten out of control, you have certainly come back

to the right place.

Hi and Terri, Yes I think he is still in shock because he

has to take the insulin. But I do think Terri is right. I've got to work

I echo the sentiments of others in saying " welcome back " . Never mind

that I wasn't on here when you were a denizen of this list before.

Bravo on your effort to keep your diabetes under control.Having just

completed a " power walk " on my morning coffee break, I say also bravo on

the increased exercise. Definitely helps with those bG readings.

Hi. I'm the one who originally mentioned the WW restrictions, and I

was on the flex plan, not the core. This year they reduced my points

from 22 to 18 or 19, so I've been feeling deprived the whole year.

They make seemingly arbitrary changes in the plan each year. Anyway,

I'm not doing WW now, I'm trying to do IE. I had a pretty good day,

although when I was hungry after work, I got a bunch of chocolate

candies, and they were very tasty, but made me feel lightheaded and

still quite hungry. I know I get spacey from candy. My blood sugar

seems to plunge right away. I think I'm better off eating it at the

end of a meal, rather than between meals, but I'm not going to make a

rule out of it! I'm enjoying all the posts, this is a good group.

just wanted to say hello ~ i am also new and am feeling really,

really hopeful about this whole process. hopeful in the sense of

finally being able to have a life again. i just turned 50 and i

think that was my epiphany. i have spent 42 years of my life on a

diet, truly, and it hasn't worked. i am not going to spend another

42 years wrapped up in this food obsession. i think this is the

answer and i'm encouraged by all of the folks' stories here and hope

you are as well.

I'm feeling " FREE " too! It's amazing, isn't it? I just don't feel

at all that sense of " doom " I normally do when I'm starting something

and pretending to be excited about the prospect of the beginning of a

new diet. This is the beginning of normalcy for me, don't you

agree???

I'm 36 y/o and have two boys. Since my oldest (8 year old) was born

I've pretty much hated myself, hated my body, hated my obsession with

food. For the most part, it's the damn Weight Watchers and counting

points. I could never free myself of that!

To have a life again....you said it!! Having had started Overeaters

Anonymous a couple of months ago -- I totally, seriously felt like my

life was ending when I agreed to my sponsor's request of giving up

sugar, flour and every single trigger food I could think of.

I am just so thrilled to have found this site! I'm so hoping we can

all get through this and stick with it and be success stories

together!!

I CONCUR! Right ON Lynette!!!!

Ive WASTED enough of my life on wishing, hoping and praying for

some " thin " miracle!

Where are the feminists??!!! They would never tolerate me to obsess

and ramble about a man the way that Ive done so about FOOD

OBSESSION!!!

***Please note.....food AND obsession not just food.***

Theres a reason I didnt say JUST food. Thats because I was never

PRESENT with the FOOD when I was bingeing. I didnt allow myself to

enjoy it or taste it AT ALL. No wonder I wanted more and more and

more. It was like the worst relationship Ive ever been in, so much

time together and still feeling so alone. The OBSESSION got between

us constantly. The FOOD and I were never allowed to be alone and

have a relationship because I was always trying to control it with

some rigid rules someone else told me worked for them (yet often

never really did work for long with anyone)

FOOD OBSESSION has been like my constant companion, support,

encouragement, my reason to be enthusiastic, my reason to be

miserable, my hopes, my dreams, my life, my love, my air, my reason

to walk at night, my reason to breathe, the answer to love and

ultimately my weapon of hate, self loathing, fear and resentment.

The fallacy of all this is that I thought food was doing this to me

until I " gave into " its power and realized it had none over me. I

blamed food. Why? Well, food cant answer back and it cant " break

up " with me. Ultimately, I didnt want to take responsibility for

myself.
