Guest guest
Alfalfa sprouts manufactured under a number of different labels have been voluntarily recalled due to potential *Salmonella* Newport contamination. The contamination has affected more than 20 people -- four of whom have been hospitalized -- across 10 states as recently as May 2. Consumers sickened by the affected sprouts reported eating the food raw before symptoms showed. Caldwell Fresh Foods, a Maywood, Calif.-based produce processor, manufactured the sprouts under brands and packaging including: - Caldwell Fresh Foods in 4-oz plastic cups, 1-lb plastic bags, 2- and 5-lb plastic bags in cardboard boxes with a Caldwell Fresh Foods sticker - Nature's Choice in 4-oz plastic cups - California Exotics brands in 5-oz plastic clam-shell containers The products were distributed to numerous restaurants, delis, and retailers. The manufacturer has labeled alfalfa products unaffected by the recall with a bright, round, green sticker affixed to the lid and label of packages. Patients who experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain after eating alfalfa sprouts from the reported labels should contact a healthcare professional. http://www.medpagetoday.com/PublicHealthPolicy/FDAGeneral/20259?utm_content=Grou\ pCL & utm_medium=email & impressionId=1274769088792 & utm_campaign=DailyHeadlines & utm_\ source=mSpoke & userid=134896 -- Ortiz, MS, RD " I plan on living forever - so far so good " " Cause of obesity, heart disease and cancer: Look at the end of your fork "
