Guest guest
Dr Fasano says that you cannot absorb gluten into the gut from the skin. If you have DH, you should not use products with wheat in them. Everyone in the celiac medical community says using topical products with gluten is okay. I seem to have a reaction to using topical products with wheat in them, so I shy away from them, but I sometimes use a shampoo that I love (Biolage by Matrix) and it seems to make my scalp itch. This is a debatable subject still it seems. They say anything that could get into your mouth should not be used like lipstick or lip gloss. ita
Guest guest
Janita, shampoo can get into one's mouth, especially children's. Most people don't firmly hold their mouth closed when bathing. Sometimes they sing and sometimes they talk. Jo Anne Re: Hair Products Dr Fasano says that you cannot absorb gluten into the gut from the skin. Guest guest
ita, I also have a reaction from shampoos, even ones that are gluten free. Since my CD started with the skin problem and ended up with the intestinal, I thought the problem was wheat. But, then I reacted to shampoos that had no gluten at all. So I discovered, I am allergic to lauryl sulfate, which is in most shampoos. You might considered an allergy to another ingredient in your shampoo. I changed to California Baby ultra sensitive shampoo and no longer have the problem. Just a thought.
