You might also want to get them a copy (or loan them one) of "Kids with Celiac Disease." Their library can get the book, too -- that way they understand the medical condition as well as what they can, can't eat -- snack ideas, emotional implications, etc.

Starting School

Our almost five year old daughter is starting a five day a week pre-K program in a few weeks. Does anyone have a letter or list you provided to the teacher to explain Celiac and list things that need to done/avioded such as wash hands after playing with playdough, using glue, clean table after eating, etc. I thought if someone out there had a list already it would help me! I'm sure I will forget something. We were so blessed with a fantastic preschool program last year that was wonderful with Nina. Anytime the class made special snacks the teacher would make them gluten free for the whole class. Nina felt very special! We have spoken to the administration at the new school but have yet to go through the specifics with her teacher and staff. Any help would be appreciated!Dabneytired mommy to two beautiful Russian angels, Katya 5 (cleft lip/palate), Perm Russia, Nina 4 (celiac disease, SCAD), Tver Russia, a little prince Evan, 2 (egg allergy) and a baby girl Ella 4 months (severe milk protein allergy)
