Guest guest
I found out the hard way just how pooped out the adrenals get if you've been underdosed on thyroid.... it really helps to give them a hand..... Remember, it's most beneficial to take the adrenals earlier in the day... I take mine in five doses of 1/4 tabs... last dose is around supper time.... So, I'm on 1 1/4 tabs a day total... and I'm doing very well. How are you feeling otherwise? Guest guest
I have read that the most accurate way to take your temperature is to put the thermometer in your armpit and leave it there for 10 minutes Lynda (in the UK) Re: need advise topper an update when i take my basil or temp at any time of day i have been leaving the thermometer in for just 3-4 minutes.. always a low temp.. so yesterday i did just that, my temp was under 97.... i put it back in my mouth and kept it in for a full 10 minutes and my temp was all the way up to 97.8 which i thought was pretty good!! just how long should we leave that temp in our mouth..?? which temp would be considered accurate.. i'm thinking the longer one?? i am using a super thick mercury thermometer... terri > I found out the hard way just how pooped out the adrenals get if you've > been underdosed on thyroid.... it really helps to give them a hand..... > Remember, it's most beneficial to take the adrenals earlier in the day... > I take mine in five doses of 1/4 tabs... last dose is around supper > time.... Guest guest
Terri, The basal temp is taken first thing in the morning, before even sitting up in bed or doing anything else. You shake the thermometer down the night before and put it next to your bed so you only need to reach for it and put it under your tongue. When I take mine I count to about 500, I'd guess that is about 6 or 7 minutes, depending on how fast my brain is ticking it off. Digital thermometers are only good for checking for a fever, they are not accurate enough to check basal temp. Taking your temp at intervals during the day can clue you in on how your adrenals are doing. But are not basal temps. Simple things such as moving around, watching tv, listening to the radio can elevate the temp, even if slightly, that is why you take it upon waking, before moving around, with no stimulus. For a woman that is still ovulating, the temp rises slightly during ovulation. So for younger women its best to track basal temp around the time of the menstrual cycle and not during mid cycle, where ovulation usually occurs. Gets confusing sometimes... but after a while all the rules start to make sense and it's easier to remember. Guest guest
Don't forget, if taking temp under the arm you have to remember the temp there runs 1 to 2 degrees lower.. that's way it's best to take it under the tongue. Guest guest
Test it for yourself... do your basal over the next few mornings and check both ways and compare the temps.... You can't do them the same day because even if you did the under arm second so that you wouldn't have to clean the thermometer before putting it in your mouth, you'd still have to shake it down and the body movement would elevate the body temp. Under arm temps are lower than under tongue.
