Hi --

I know you didn't ask me, but I did Weigh Down also, so I thought I'd chime in

on this.

WD was the first IE program I did and I had great success with it. The basic

priciples are to eat when you are hungry, stop when you are satisfied (although

I think they call it " full " ) and turn to God for all of the times you want to

eat out of anything but hunger.

Gwen Shamblin is the creator of WD...she tells people to wait for hunger, and

wait and wait. I remember reading the message boards and there would be some

people who didn't get hungry, the first time, for 24-48 hours.

Another great tool I liked that Gwen used was for those who are starting out and

unable to gauge fullness, to cut what you would normally eat in half. If you get

hungry in less than 3 hours, use that as an indication to eat more. Raise the

amounts you eat in increments until you can go a good 3.5 to 4 hours in between

meals.

I haven't been part of WD for a long time, but I've read a lot about the

problems people have had/are having with it. It seems that Gwen Shamblin has

turned it into a sort of cult. She has opened her own church and has very strict

rules for her employees.

Many of the people who did WD had great success and lost tons of weight. I

remember reading many posts from people who lost 100+ lbs, by simply cutting

back on their portion sizes.

I lost 12 lbs fairly quickly, within the first month of starting the program.

Then I stayed there for a couple of months, then redoubled my efforts and lost

an additional 10 lbs. I maintained that weight loss for 3 years...until I

started eating too much again. I am about 10 lbs above where I was when I lost

the 22 initial lbs.

I know I've written this on here...I have no trouble 99% of the time waiting for

hunger to eat. I also have no trouble with good/bad foods. When I gained back 10

lbs, it was because I started slowly eating a little bit more and a little bit

more. The extra 10 lbs I carry now is because I sometimes eat past satisfied.

The religion part of the program was a God send for me (no pun intended!!)

However, I am a practicing Catholic and joined a Catholic WD group. I took what

Gwen said about God and applied it to MY religion and went from there.

If you have any other questions, please let me know.

Cheryl
