Guest guest Posted December 18, 2007 Report Share Posted December 18, 2007 K-12 Schools and Libraries: Apply to Receive the “We the People Bookshelf” As part of its We the People initiative, the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association present the We the People Bookshelf, a program that encourages young people to read classic books and explore themes in American history, culture, and ideas. K-12 schools and public libraries are invited to apply to receive a set of 17 thematically related books which embody the theme of “Created Equal.” In return for receiving a Bookshelf, libraries are must organize programs that introduce the books and the “Created Equal” theme to the library’s students, patrons, or intergenerational audiences.
