Hi Phuong,

HSG alone will not distinguish between BU and Septate. It can show if there

is an anomaly; however, if there is a question about BU or Septate, these

can look the same on HSG. There needs to be an accurate view of the fundus

(top of uterus) to indicate either BU (the fundus will have a significant

dip) or septate (little or no dip). The hysteroscopy / lap is the very best

diagnostic tool. It is important to know the difference because with a

septate uterus the chances of loss are very high but surgery is very

successful to correct it.

Good luck!
