I can't answer your first question about fibroids outside the uterus, but I can

answer the second.

Yes. You definitely need to take a lot of time off. I took 6 weeks after a

myomectomy and every minute was well worth it. I don't want to frighten you but

abdominal surgery is serious business. It is great that you love your job, but

if it is like most jobs, they will have work waiting when you get back.

Also, you need to be with someone for the first week after surgery. It is not

easy to get around. Stock up on food or anything else you will need and then lay

back and relax.

Good luck.

Large Fibroid can cause unbearable cramping. Before I had my myoectomy the

cramping got so bad the I ended up in the ER several times. My Fibroid was

larger than my uterus.

I was out of work for 2 weeks and went back part-time for 4 weeks. My

biggest problem was my office is on the third floor so the stairs killed me.

I believe each persons recovery is different so listen to your body. I can

tell you the 1st period after surgery was one I would not wish on anyone

myoectomy

> I've recently been told by my GYN that I have two large fibroids, one the

size of a grapefruit on the front of my uterus and another the size of a

golf ball on the back of my uterus. She suggests a myoectomy. She tells me

I'd be off work for several weeks. I have a few questions and would

appreciate hearing from women who have had large fibroids: First, do large

fibroids cause cramping when outside the uterus? I had a cramping episode

last night that was almost unbearable. Second, does it really take weeks to

recover from a myoectomy? I love my job and don't want to be gone for weeks

and weeks.

Hi,

I had an abdominal myo in October. My job is not very physical, so I

was back to work part time my third week post-op and full time by the

forth. I could have taked the additional time if I needed it, but I

felt pretty good by the end of week 2.

I believe recovery is much quicker if the surgery is done

laporascopically. Keep in mind that everyone is different.

Hope this helps,

>what is " interceed " ?

Interceed is a brand name of a piece of cloth that they wrap around the

uterus. It helps prevent the uterus from sticking to other organs.

Anytime someone needs a definition, please do a search on the internet or go

to http://ww.webmd.com or other health sites to get the definition. If you

can't find the answer, then please post the question here. This will save a

lot of time, and it will save a lot of bytes.

I went to http://www.google.com and enter interceed in the search box. Here

is one of the links that came up:
