In reading one of the posts, someone mentioned UAE syndrome. What is it and what causes it. I had an UAE almost two years ago and now have some very strange things going on. Just wondering if it might be related to the UAE. Thanks, this is a great post with lots of good info. Jena Jena, From what I understand Post UAE syndrome is the reaction the body goes through as the fibroids infarct. It consists of fever and malaise. If you don't mind sharing, what kind of strange things have you experienced post-UAE? I had mine in 1998 and have had some weird after-effects too. The only lasting effect has been a burning/cramping feeling in the uterus that starts about 7-10 days before my period and continues on/off until it begins. I'm quite sure it's related to the UAE, as I never experienced this before the procedure. I haven't read of anyone having this symptom yet. I think we'd all learn by comparing notes. Thanks, Kim
Guest guest
What does UAE stand for...why do these things infarct. Of course they will cause scar tissue? Keloids? What? The body also " remembers " trauma physically. What do you all thiunk? Guest guest
Hi Kim, It may be me your talking about.I had a uni-lateral-left side only embolization in Oct.99 and had post-embo syndrome for a very long time along with 2 hospitalizations for high fever.I too now think that the most acute phase of this is over-but I have some very weird things happen that no one-no internist,no Infectious Disease Specialist no one will look into.I am very excited to find someone else reporting strange things-what type of strange things? I run low grade fevers, they come and go.I get rashes that come and go,I get chills, same thing comes and goes,I still get periods of being wiped out.I sometimes wonder if some auto-immune mechanism hasn't been altered?I may not be listing everything, what symptoms do you have? Best, Looking forward to your reply, Bonnie KIM RANSDELL wrote: > jennis9659@... wrote: > > > --------------------------------------------- > > Attachment: > > MIME Type: multipart/alternative > > --------------------------------------------- > Hi! > > In reading one of the posts, someone mentioned UAE syndrome. Guest guest
UAE stands for Uterine Artery Emboliztion. The fibroids are deprived of their blood supply via blocking of the uterine artery. They go through a process of necrotization-dying off as it were and the body re-absorbs the dead tissue.I do believe that this process could cause or will cause scar tissue.I don't know about keloids-I think, but am not sure that keloids are a type of scar and not everyone scars like that. The body I think does " remember " trauma,as does the mind, but how this is expressed in terms of UAE I don't know. Guest guest
pardon me but I want to ask a question. If this procedure is done, how does the body perceive itself immunologically? I'm not being facetious here. I had a sponge left in my body from a kidney operation for ten years, my body sought to protect itself and the ensuing expression mimicked toxic shock or aids or lupus. some of the same symptoms...what about the procedure would physically set up the response? gg Bonnie Andrukaitis wrote: > Hi Kim and Hi Jena, > I did respond to one of you.For some reason I only got one of your e mails. > I have had weird symptoms since my UAE Oct.'99.Could the 3 of us compare notes.I have a lot of > burning, rashes and still fatigue as well as other symptoms.I have difficulty in finding anyone to > explain things to me and I have some suspicion that some form of auto-immune thing might be going on. > > I would love to hear from both of you, because this is the first time I heard anyone talk about weird > persistent things. > Best > Bonnie > > KIM RANSDELL wrote: > > > jennis9659@... wrote: > > > > > --------------------------------------------- > > > Attachment: > > > MIME Type: multipart/alternative > > > --------------------------------------------- > > Hi! > > > > In reading one of the posts, someone mentioned UAE syndrome. Guest guest
GG Sorry for getting to this message late. Yes,I believe the mechansim would be the same and some of the same symtoms would occur. Its the fact that there is a foreign body whether it be a sponge or degerating material. The same defenses would go into action. What did youy do for those 10 years? Things must have been awful and if took 10 years I guess they didn't think of a sponge left in. Guest guest
Kim, You read that post most likely from me.I have strange goings on and I am 17 months post UAE.Jena is also reporting strange things,I wonder if we put our heads together if we could not find out what is still causing our bodies to react so long after the procedure, please write and lets share. Guest guest
It was a rough go. My marriage ended over it. I kept going into the hospital feeling like I was going to die...shock symptoms. At times thought it was all in my head. Had radiation tracers mixed with my blood shooting through my veins to find any hot spots...IV antibiotics, I'd get better then and be discharged and then have to go back again. CDC called out. they thought it was something new...to rule out something new, or toxic shock or aids or something. convinced it led to my complete planentia abruptio and almost total bleed out. son born dead for 7 minutes than shocked back to life. apgar of zero. is fine now. they found the sponge after the emergency C-section to save my son. Three docs peering into my open belly and saying, " What the hell is that.? " So. Question. Why wouldn't the body try to protect itself in the same way, producing perhaps even sub-clinical symptoms, at times, fatigue, flu-like symptoms, slightly elevated WBC, slight shockiness, panic fear flight stuff...I wonder...gg Bonnie Andrukaitis wrote: > GG > Sorry for getting to this message late. > Yes,I believe the mechansim would be the same and some of the same symtoms would occur. Its the fact that > there is a foreign body whether it be a sponge or degerating material. The same defenses would go into > action. > What did youy do for those 10 years? > Things must have been awful and if took 10 years I guess they didn't think of a sponge left in. > Bonnie > > GG Schaumburg wrote: > > > pardon me but I want to ask a question.
