Guest guest
My daughter and son went gf in May of this year. And, both of them because of genetics were very big for their age. However, I have seen my daughter grow considerably taller in the last few months and I attribute this to her being able to absorb the nutrients she needs. I would venture to say she has grown 3 inches total since may. Trully incredible what can happen on a gf diet.
Guest guest
Also Kroger brand Golden Nuggets is gluten-free per letter from their dietitian. Pete eats it all the time and has never had a problem with it. Faye Gannon, Dalton, GA
Guest guest
My Son with CD was born in the 10th percentile. He remained there until just before his third birthday - that’s when he dropped completely off the growth chart. He wore the same size clothes for two years!! The Pediatrician still didn’t think there was a problem until I brought in a pamphlet on CD and demanded testing for my Son. Its been almost two years since he’s been GF. He’s just now starting to shoot-up. We just had an appointment with the Pediatrician and he’s back on the growth chart! YAHOO!! Don’t worry about your daughter….it may take a while. But I would also make sure you thoroughly check all foods she eats, to make sure she isn’t getting gluten from somewhere. You can find gluten in the strangest places…..ground beef for example! Who would’ve thought?!?
Guest guest
Holly, I have been reading your conversation with great interest, our experiences are so simmilar! I too have 4 kids, all small except the 4 month old- 50th percentile! My oldest,,Raven-5 1/2, was dx'd celiac 11/02, and is finally over 30 lbs. He starts kindergarten next week, and I am working on his 504 plan, goodie box, and educating his teacher. Luckily there is another celiac family in our community, so the district has worked with it before. My 2 yr old, Taran, has been going through the testing process this summer. His blood work was negative, but done at 18 mos., so they did an endoscopy in June when he turned 2. No villi damage, so no celiac disease, but there were eosinophilic cells. He still has the diarrhea, and weighs about 22 lbs now. Our GI also suggested Pediasure, and calorie loading. I wish I could eat like that- ice cream floats, puddings, lots of butter on everything, whole milk, all the stuff they tell us to avoid! We also got a juice based liquid nutrition called " Enlive " , by the makers of Ensure. Comes in Apple and Peach flavor, and he likes it better than Pediasure. It got to where his diapers were more than I could bear with the Pediasure, that stuff smells horrible. Our older boys also have allergies, food & enviornmental, and I am about ready to concede to the fact that I just have small children. It helps with clothes shopping when they are all within about 10 lbs of each other and wear the same sizes for so long! It took about 6 months for Raven(5) to start gaining any weight, but he got a bit of height within the first couple months. Sinjon(4) had got to within 1lb of Raven before he started to gain again, and now Raven is 37 lbs and Sinjon is 33. I have gotten rid of our scale, and rely more on how they feel than the actual numbers now. You said WIC helped supply the Pediasure for you? How did you get that? They still let us get whole milk for Taran because he is off the growth chart, but that is all. Maybe it is different in different states, we can't get soy or rice milk either, and no other subs for allergies. Okay this is just getting way too long, so thanks for listening...Renae
