Guest guest
Just butting in here.... but from what I have been reading, it is often VERY hard to test accurately for parasites...... and there are MANY different kinds. Some are worms, others are microscopic organisms. Testing isn't very accurate so what I am gathering is that docs here in this country don't bother testing unless someone has really bad, obvious symptoms..... many docs agree that lots of us probably have parasites. I did read one thing that stated..... if you have EVER lived in a third world country, you probably have parasites. And yes, many cultures DO their own de-worming routine on a regular basis. There are certain foods that are natural parasitics and many countries have a "traditional" meal they eat in the spring time, or whenever, once a year. Example..... green cabbage is part of the traditional springtime meal in Ireland. Garlic, raw grated carrots, raw pumpkin seeds, cloves and many other common foods are often part of the routine. Even here in the US, as recently as the early part of the 20th century, doctors commonly prescribed a de-worming regimen of castor oil, etc, if a patient came in to them complaining of fatigue, etc, and had dark circles under their eyes. The doc would just assume that they had worms and needed to be treated for that. I think we have gotten away from it in this country because we *think* we live in such a *clean* environment. We've gotten very lax about this and just think it can't happen to us because that would indicate we are either poor or dirty..... when actually, you don't have to be either of those things. Anyway, I am getting carried away here but.... my husband lived in the ines in the military for 2 years (10 years ago) and has had tons of problems since with skin problems, nail fungus, etc. He did some reading about parasites and asked his doctor but was promptly blown off. They just won't pay any attention unless someone is violently ill..... but parasites can cause other "less serious" problems, too. Sorry to go on so long.... Patti Re: sensitivities to cleaners???? Hi Faye,> Two weeks later was treated for parasites- our cat presented us with> a lovely gift- the next week the seizures started.> FayeCould you tell me what the treatment for parasites was? I don't knowwhether Rohan could have worms - don't know how to get it checked. He was in Sri Lanka for about a month when he was just over an yearold and then again for about a week at 1 & a 1/2 yrs of age. I know thatchildren in Sri Lanka are treated for worms as a routine. My worry isthathe could have picked up some.I'm so glad Mike is doing well.Saro
