Guest guest
, I had daily headaches five years ago, but after a few months they went away. Then last August I went gluten-free. I didn't have any headaches then TO go away--i was already fine. But then in October the migraines came. So I had been gluten free for 2.5 months, another sign the headaches had to do with diet. I'm afraid I dont' have any advice or any stories to tell because I knew about the Celiac before the migraines. I took topamax too. It seemed to work at first, but then I just needed more and more of it. And then it became really hard to concentrate. It's probably good that you're looking out for MSG, that's a big trigger. Are you also monitoring caffeine? And Nitrites and Nitrates (like in hot dogs)? For a little while we thought maybe meat had something to do with the headaches because in early October I started eating meat again after being a vegetarian for 7 years. (meat and wheat free was a bit of a challenge). Are you seeing a headache specialist? I've learned not to waste my time with anyone else, but I also live near Chicago so it's near University of Chicago--Dr. Guandalini my celiac dr--and Northwestern Memorial and The Diamond Headache Clinic. Have you tried seeing a nutritionist? I guess all I really have to say is make sure you keep a well BALANCED diet. Sometimes trying to avoid so many things can leave you deprived of some vital nutrients. For a while I was taking magnesium supplements. Those are supposed to help migraines. And then something called Migralief which has magnesium in it and other migraine-aiding herbal things. Just never rule anything out...Sorry I can't be of more help. Good Luck. Any other questions, send 'em my way. --Sara
