I thought I was almost better..then I had to take doxycycline for 1

month (mycoplasma cystitis) and now I am back to blazing front to

back!

No evidence of yeast (just like when this all started there was no

evidence of yeast) but my anus, inside my crack, vulva, are burning

like I sat in acid. No discharge...so what the heck is this!!!!!

How can it feel like my skin is flaming if there is nothing

contacting the skin!

Thoughts???

Thanks Ora...I only used acidophilus while on the doxy because my

doctor SWORE it would not cause yeast! When I went to him with

increased vulvar/anal burning he said he could not see any yeast in

the vagina so I didn't have it. He wouldn't give me anything.

Do you have to be able to see vaginal yeast to say you have yeast???

Antibiotics can cause intestinal burning and irritation but not necessarily also

cause yeast. They can upset the intestinal flora and destroy the " good "

bacteria, causing diarrhea and subsequently burning. I have had that in the

past without any yeast infection.

I always eat yogurt when I take antibiotics and always ask my doctor to

prescribe an antibiotic that can be used with dairy product because some of them

cannot.

Lynn,

I believe that in order to have a vaginal yeast

infection, one already has to have yeast overgrowth in

the intestines. In fact I have read a couple of

research studies on that in the past. A lot of this

stuff about yeast is denied by doctors for some

unknown reason and they are certainly stingy with

their prescriptions for Diflucan, too.

Also, one can get yeast infections on the skin without

having a vaginal overgrowth of yeast. It happens all

the time that people can get skin yeast things on

their skin on various parts of the body. I have had

yeast irritation (or whatever you call it) all the way

up on my abdomen, in the folds, crease of my legs,

etc. If you get it on the vulvar skin and anal skin it

is much more painful because that skin is so

sensitive. All of it could have originated from the

colon instead of the vagina.

I know that there is some kind of cream that should

have been given to you that is fairly gentle and will

kill yeast but I don't remember what it is. I would be

afraid to try to use the over the counter anti-fungals

on it but I think that you surely do need something

antifungal for the skin. When I had that on my

abdomen, etc., I used a betadine solution and washed

off with that and it took it right away, but that

would maybe be very hurting for you. Have you ever

used the ZNP soap type bar that is an antifungal. I

use it everyday since I am so prone to these darn

yeast things.

A new GYN has just prescribed one 100 mg. Diflucan per

week for me for six months. She said that Diflucan is

a very safe medication. I am delighted that I maybe

won't have to deal with a yeast infection once a month

or so. Personally I think that I will have to take it

for the rest of my life as it seems to be a chronic

thing.

I think that you still need to be taking Diflucan even

if it is just apparent on your skin in addition to

some kind of topical treatment for the skin.

Anyway, sorry for your pain and hope you can find

relief. Hope this helps in some way.

Thanks Arline...I've never heard of this soap but I am going to find

it and USE it!! I just hate that we are so dependant on doctors for

medications and yet if they don't see it...we don't need it in their

opinions. In other words..we are left to suffer or to try things

that sometimes we shouldn't.

Thanks again,

Lynn

Your response about Diflucan caused me to have a question of my

own. My mom had one of the kind of yeast infections that Arline

was talking about where it went all over the pubic area and all

that. Thankfully not her legs though. She's Diabetic and had

uncontrolled blood sugars so of course went to the hospital for

a few days back in June. While there they gave her Diflucan to

take. I don't know the mg on the script they gave her but the

dr had told her to take it for 10 days straight after she got

out.

Also while she was in there she got a bumpy kind of rash that

was not there before she was admitted. They gave her clobestaol

(sp?) for that and one other steroid that I can't remember what

for but my question to you is this. Have you ever heard of

having a dr prescribe Diflucan for 10 days straight?

As far as I can tell from the ZNP website - it is for

a different kind of fungal infection than Candida. It

is for dermatophytes which cause jock itch and

atheletes foot. These are for organisms that are not

related at all to yeast. They grow at lower

temperatures such as on the surface of skin and nails.
