Mandy,

I would ship some gluten free flour if you plan to use Bette Hagman's

books. I use her gluten free blend (6 parts white rice flour, a 1 part

tapioca flour and 2 parts potato starch) in just about everything that

would require flour. Xanthum gum is also called for in lots of baked

recipes but you might need to pick that up at a health food store. Ours

is refrigerated. Did you consider having an order shipped from Ener-G?

You can check their website to see if it would reach there when you

want it to. Since the company is on the west coast, you may still have

time.

Have a great time,

Any advice on what other food I should pack, because I don't

feel confident with just showing up with bread and pasta but I also

don't want to overpack. Help!!!!

Thanks very much!

There are several great markets in the Santa area...Whole Foods and Wild Oats. Also try PF Changs for a great Chinese Gluten Free menu.whitemint81@... wrote:

Hello everyone! I will be travelling to Santa , California in a couple of weeks and I was wondering if anyone knows of any restaurants in the area that cater to us gluten free people. Also any tips would be helpful about the area, if anyone has any. One more thing, I've never travelled so far being gluten free (I'm from NY). I am staying with a cousin who is very aware of my situation and he asked me to pre-ship some food. All I can think of is bread and pasta; he bought some Bette Hagmann cookbooks and he plans on us doing some cooking. Any advice on what other food I should pack, because I don't feel confident with just showing up with bread and pasta but I also don't want to overpack. Help!!!!

Thanks very much!

no's Raw in Santa reportedly has "all" gluten-free foods, and was a favorite of a celiac who told me that.
