Hi Rani,

I had a UAE in 1998, followed by a myo last Jan. I started my period the day

after the surgery. It was mild compared to the usual fibroid-related flooding

& clots. " Great! " ,I thought.

I then developed a terrible staph infection that the quacks here at my local

hospital did not diagnose. They actually did blood work that came back

positive for staph, but failed to notify me of that little tidbit. They

treated me with some ho-hum antibiotics for a few weeks. I continued to get

sicker, continued to go to my local doc and ER several times. I was in contact

w/ the gyn who did my myo at UCLA the whole time. I live 200 miles from there

and was so sick, I didn't think I could make the trip. He was trying to ask

the locals here to do certain tests, which they refused to do. I think there

was some ego problem or something. They didn't want the " bigwig " chief of

staff of the OB/GYN Dept. at UCLA telling THEM what to do. I finally got an

ER doc who looked at the lab work and said " Oh my God, you've had a staph

infection for weeks! " HELLOOOO!

By this time it was a month post-myo and time for another period. I started

having horrific pain, bleeding, clots and watery discharge, that turned into a

purulent discharge. By that time I was not very coherent, but we decided to go

back to L.A. I literally almost died before I was re-admitted to UCLA for 5

days of high-powered antibiotics. It turns out that over the course of those

few weeks I'd developed myometritis, (sp.?) which is an infection of the

uterus. The third period after my myo was also VERY messy. My gyn told me

that it was just the result of the infection. Since then, I've had NORMAL,

on-time periods, something I haven't experienced for decades.

The point of this LONG-winded account is to remind you that you should insist

on them finding the root of the problem ASAP. I hope you have good medical

providers. It sounds like they're doing a thorough work-up, but mistakes can

happen. I hope things straighten out for you. I'm sure you'll find your

cycles will be much better than before the myo. after everything settles down.
