Guest guest Posted January 10, 2006 Report Share Posted January 10, 2006 Nazareth Hospital (Mokama, Bihar) is a premier 200-bed facility that runs a Community Care Centre for people living with HIV and AIDS with support from the Bihar State AIDS Control Centre. In addition to proving medical care and psychological counseling, Nazareth Hospital will begin providing nutritional supplements and nutritional counseling to HIV+ people accesing its in-and out-patient services as part of a 21-month nutrition project for HIV+ people and their families, which will be supported by the World Food Program. As the implementing agency, Nazareth Hospital is inviting applications for the following posts: Nutritionist and Project Coordinator. Kindly see below for details. PROJECT COORDINATOR Duties & Responsibilities: Oversee day-to-day implementation of the project and ensure smooth and timely completion of planned project activities; Develop an implementation plan & budget, results-based M & E plan, and capacity building plan based on findings from the needs assessment; Develop a strategy for involving people living with HIV/AIDS in project implementation; Design and put in place a mechanism for storing, distributing, and tracking food for beneficiaries; Organize and facilitate trainings for staff of Nazareth Hospital, BSACS and BNP+; Coordinate the needs assessment and project evaluation; Document best practices / lessons learned; Handle accounts and prepare monitoring and financial reports for submission to WFP Country Office at monthly, quarterly and annual intervals. Educational Qualifications: Bachelors degree in related field A Masters Degree in related field (e.g. Public Health, Social Work, and Nutrition) Experience: Minimum 3-5 years professional experience in program management/ coordination Essential Knowledge and skills: Demonstrated ability to plan, cost, implement, and monitor health programs Knowledge of HIV/AIDS Ability to organize and facilitate workshops and trainings Excellent communication and inter-personal skills Superior problem solving skills and ability to work as a team player Good writing & documentation skills Fluency in speaking, writing and reading Hindi and English. Desirable knowledge and skills Knowledge of nutrition Familiarity with UN system Knowledge of local culture NUTRITIONIST Duties & Responsibilities: Supervise the distribution of nutritional supplements (Indiamix) to HIV+ clients; Counsel HIV+ clients on good nutrition, hygiene, and consumption/preparation of Indiamix; Measure, record body weight and monitor the nutritional status and quality of life of HIV+ people who receive nutritional supplements; Coordinate the development of a training module for caregivers on the nutritional requirements of people living with HIV and AIDS; Coordinate the development of a training manual on nutrition for PLWHAs for teachers in the School of Nursing at Nazareth Hospital; Participate as a resource person in trainings on appropriate nutrition for HIV+ people and their family members for caregivers at Nazareth Hospital and several representatives from BSACS and BNP+; Give recipe demonstrations using Indiamix to members of HIV+ support groups and caregivers at Nazareth Hospital. Educational Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in related field A Masters Degree in Foods and Nutrition is desirable Experience Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in clinical as well as public health settings Experience working with people living with HIV and AIDS Essential Knowledge and skills: Knowledge of HIV/AIDS Demonstrated ability to organize and conduct training for care givers Good client counselling skills Excellent communication and inter-personal skills Excellent problem-solving skills Fluency in speaking, writing and reading Hindi Competency in English Desirable knowledge and skills " Research experience Knowledge of local culture ----------------------------- Both positions are based in Mokama Village, Patna District, Bihar.
