Guest guest
I recently had an EP study done to attempt to locate and ablate the source of my a-fib. It was first thought that my a-fib was a result of PSVT that then went into a-fib after a time. This is not the case however. Now, since the procedure I am having more ectopics and hence more a-fib. Prior to the procedure I had it every 11 months or so and now I have had it 3 times in one week. I am not on meds, but I do have a monitor for the next two weeks to see if it returns and to determine from whence it came. My question is has anybody else had more a-fib after an EP study? It makes sense but the surgeon said it wasn't related and I am a bit skeptical. Thank you

It makes sense to me, too. Even without an ablation, I am sure that the EP study, with the various provoking manoeuvres they try, and generally poking around in there, could cause the heart to get a little inflamed or sensitive (especially if they provoked runs of AF while you were under), and these conditions can lead to more AF. Only my opinion. Best of health to all, Vicky

Even thinking about it gives me ectopics. Fran

If so, my understanding is that it takes the heart awhile to calm down after that. Even if they didn't ablate anything, I think Vicky is right - they provoke afib, probably multiple times, to try and find the foci, and I know I am always more likely to have problems for awhile after I've been in afib.
