Guest guest
I just noticed that you gals were talking about Zon. and mixing it with something. We've never been told to mix it with anything, or give it with/without food. Could you explain why it's done this way?? Afraid I am missing something...........Love, Deb R >>However, I couldn't help but pick up on your statement: " We started at 1cc Zon mixed w/1cc flavor " . Tyler has been prescribed a 100mg capsule of Zonegran mixed with 10oz. of apple juice, he is given 3.5cc morning, noon and night.>>
Guest guest
Deb, It's how they dose kids who are too little for a full capsule - at least that's how it is for us. In our case, Lucas now gets two 100 mg capsules opened into 30 ml's of water. I shake it up in a bottle, and then he gets 8 ml's of the mixture. The manufacturer had to figure out how to mix a dose for him because he was only a month old when he started Z, which is apparently the youngest they've ever had on it. I don't know anything about the liquid version of the med that someone else mentioned, though. I thought it was only available in capsule version - liquid would sure be easier to work with though! Guest guest
>How is Nate doing on it?> So far, we're not seeing much change, when we take the dose up or down. But recently we had bloods, his level came back at 6. So we went up, higher than we had been, he's getting 100 mg./am and 200 mg./pm and I *think* we're seeing a slight decrease in seizures. It's hard to say, mostly since he has one short myoclonic every 2nd or 3rd night now (in his sleep), and that's all. But missed his evening meds (DUH, how COULD I?) the other night along with his meals getting messed up at camp, and had two myos and one very short GM in his sleep that night. His ketones were 5-15 the next morning. It's never nice to have a seizure, but better this way, than not being able to think of anything I'd done wrong, I guess. BTW, he learned to swallow capsules about 2 weeks ago. We've been doing the happy dance ever since!! Love, Deb
