Nutribiotic GSE is grapeFRUIT seed extract, which is entirely a

different animal than grape seed extract. GSE works wonderfully for

yeast issues for my family. It does have phenol effect, so if your

child starts becoming hyper, you can consider giving it along with the

new No-Fenol enzyme. This combination is wonderful for my family.

Dana,

My son swallows pills better than any other form of supplementation.

Would a grapefruit seed extract PILL be too much for my 5 year old??

That's great! But other parents need to know that if their child is on an

SSRI, they should NOT take GSE. There could be a serious interaction.

Here is a copy of a message I wrote for another forum

~~~~~
I have never used GSE as a powder/capsule, just as liquid. So I don't
know if it is effective on yeast when it is a powder, but I assume it
would be.
My bottle of GSE says 10 drops is 100 mg of GSE. So it is 10 mg per
drop. And the child dose is 1-3 drops, 1-2 times per day. So using the
lowest dose, it would be 10 mg for one drop.
If your capsules say 250 mg, then that is more like the adult dose,
which my bottle says 5-15 drops, 1-3 times each day. So using
the highest dose, 15 drops is 150 mg.
So giving your child 250 mg, is like a very large adult dose. Now this
is assuming that the mg for the powder is directly comparable to the
mg for the liquid drops, and I don't know if that compares straight
across like this. But this is the info I have, you can decide for
yourself.
Just had a thought put the liquid form in a capsule. I am sure you
can get empty capsules, or empty yourself, It then would only work
on the gut.
GSE is also great for diaper rash, cuts and scraped I keep a bottle diluted
in my diaper bag. Also we wash our hand with a squirt at the park etc. Aslo
keep a spray bottle at home and clean counters with it. You can use for sore
throats Gargle with it. flush ears with it for infection (as long as ear drum
folks... GSE is GRAPEFRUIT seed extract... not GRAPE seed extract...
make sure you get the right one!
you should be able to find this at local food store... liquid is what
most people use... 2-3 drops 2/3 times per day for kids... for adults,
8-10 drops 2/3 times a day for first few days, then 2-3 drops for
maintenance seems to be what is recommended for yeast control....the
stuff tastes terrible...so, you'll have to mask it in juice or
something.
I have just started my son on GSE. I am giving him 3-4
drops only in the mornings. He has been so much less
hyperactive since I started GSE. I did twice that
amount but he started coughing a lot so I had to
reduce his dosage. But, he is playing by himself more
and doesn't talk as much as he used to. He is
obsessing with his wires. However, he is soooo well
behaved now. I don't know what to make of it. I was
also chelating for eight weekends and I just stopped
after he got a stomach virus. I was doing 50/50
DMSA/ALA every three hours during the day and every
four hours at night. This has happened before. I would
stop chelation, he would regress and then he would
make some nice gains. I'll never get used to it. Fear
is always with me. Sigh! Vicky
forgot to mention... anyone who is on medication should make sure they
check with their doctor prior to taking this... kids on SSRI (i.e.,
paxil, etc.) should not be taking this before consulting with their
physicians first.
apparently, something in the GSE, actually in anything with grapefruit
(fruit itself, the juice, the extract) makes the body " absorb " more of
the medication. So if you are on medication, or your child is, be very
careful about giving them this without first checking with a doctor.
just wanted to mention that for everyone.
