Guest guest
I just started taking it too and it doesn't help me at all. Anyone have any ideas on sleep? I can't take ambien either. Debbie in NYLPait wrote: Hello Kerrie, I was given Lunesta recently but find that it is not keeping me asleep. I do go back to bed but it's not restful sleep and I when I get out of bed, I'm still tired. I have only been on it for a week and will continue for a while longer to see if it just takes time to work. Cammie Lunesta FYI- when I was at the docs Monday, I asked about that new sleep med- Lunesta. She said that she does not have much faith in it, and that it will most likely end up just like all the others that say they aren't addictive, etc. She said I shouldn't even bother. She just wrote me for the temazepam again. 1. While it is wonderful to share our experiences with everyone on the list as to what treatments do and don't work for us, pls always check with your dr. Some treatments are dangerous when given along with other meds as well as to certain health conditions or just dangerous in general.2. If you are in a difficult situation (doesn't matter what it is) pls don't be afraid to ask for help. It is the first step to trying to make that situation better.Have a nice day everyone. Yahoo! Guest guest
Debbie, I also tried ambien and could not take it. My rheumatologist is about to give up on me. She said that I must have other issues like stress and that no medicine will work. I explained that I have extreme stress due to being out of work for over a year and I'm out of money. Guest guest
Have you tried Clonapin? It works for me, when I need it. You might also ask your doctor about Seroquel. I started out taking 25 mg before bed, and it knocked me on my butt! The thing with Seroquel is that you slowly build a tolerance to it, and the doc will slowly increase the dosage until it reaches the therapeutic level. Although Seroquel was originally used to treat psychosis, and is used in the management of BiPolar Disorder, it has been found to be of great help in the treatment of fibro. If you haven't tried it, you might ask your rheumy about it. Good Luck, cyn At 10:59 PM 5/9/2005 -0400, LPait wrote: Debbie, I also tried ambien and could not take it. Guest guest
I've tried Ambien, it did nothing for me. I've tried Elavil, trazadone, and other stuff like melatonin. Have you ever tried temazepam? The brand name is Restoril. It is a benzo, but a very weak one. That's what I have been on for the past 2½ years now. It's the only thing that can put me to sleep. You have to pretty much be laying down really calm and relaxing for it to put you to sleep though. If you are up and about, it just acts like a weak Valium or Xanax and calms my nerves. Sometimes I use it for my anxiety disorder since I'm not taking anything for that. Benedryl puts me out really well, but it leaves me with major hangover effects the next day, and sometimes the day after that. Benedryl keeps me out for a long time though. I only take it when I absolutely HAVE to. BTW- Benedryl is the SAME thing as many OTC sleep aids. If the main ingredient is diphenhydramine, then it's just Benedryl under another name, like Nytol or whatever. It's usually cheaper to buy the store brand Benedryl than the sleep aids. Just a little FYI. I hope you find something that works for you. If I had my way, I'd be getting Valium for sleep since that ALWAYS helps me, PLUS it's the only TRUE muscle relaxer there is. But, no script for it and I haven't had the money to order any from the net. Oh well. Someday I will again. ~*Kerrie*~ Re: Lunesta-Cammie and anyone on sleep I just started taking it too and it doesn't help me at all. Anyone have any ideas on sleep? I can't take ambien either. Guest guest
I can't believe these docs give up so easily. Too bad they took the REAL barbiturates off the market cause people were ODing all the time. If we could get some Quaaludes or Seconal or something, we would all sleep like babies. Lol! ~*Kerrie*~ Re: Lunesta-Cammie and anyone on sleep Debbie, I also tried ambien and could not take it. My rheumatologist is about to give up on me.
