Mrs. Chandler will also provide information on other federal requirements such as the Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing and affirmatively furthering fair housing mandates as they relate to providing housing for persons with disabilities and their families. She will also provide pragmatic strategies for organizing and having meaningful input into local/state housing decisions using federal funding.Barbara Chandler is the Housing Program Director for Adaptive Environments.She manages the Fair Housing Accessibility First Design and

ConstructionResource Center (DCRC) a nationwide service that provides technicalassistance on compliance with the federal Fair Housing Act requirements. Ms. Chandler has advocated for persons with disabilities, elders, victims ofdomestic violence and low-income families for twenty-five years. She wasformerly the Policy Analyst for the City of Boston Office of Civil Rights,where she dealt with fair housing, disability and civil rights issues. Shewas the past Director of the Coordinated Aging, Rehabilitation andDisability Services Project (CARDS) for the Executive Office of ElderAffairs and as well as a Planner with the Massachusetts DevelopmentalDisabilities Council. She has served on the Massachusetts ArchitecturalAccess Board and sits on the Board of Director for the Citizens Housing andAffordable Planning Association (CHAPA). She has been recognized for herhousing advocacy work for persons with disabilities by CHAPA,

receivingtheir 1994 Community Service Award, and the Massachusetts Department ofMental Health. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology fromthe University of Mass: Dartmouth.
