Guest guest
I have tried Depakote prescribed from a nurologist. I hated it because it was not helping with pain and made me into a true to life walking zombie. I could not concentrate, much less stay awake. I was an accident waiting to happen. My brain would shut down, like I was asleep in the middle of anything I was doing. I wouldn't wish this drug on my worst ememy. Ter
Guest guest
I was on Depakote for several months b/c I have bipolar disorder, and it can be used to control mood swings. (It is primarily used as an anti-seizure drug.) When I was diagnosed with chronic pain from possible endometriosis and vestibulitis, my doctor switched me over to Neurontin. The Depakote made me very, very sleepy--esp. when we increased the drug. It did work great for my mood swings. And even though it was never prescribed for chronic pain--it never did anything for my pain, at all! The Neurontin, however, has worked very well for both my pain and mood swings. I have never heard of Depakote being used for pain--and I have been on several boards for the pain and vulvar problems and for bipolar disorder. You might ask the ladies on Ivillage.com at the Bipolar site (under health) if any of them were prescribed Depakote for their pain and mood swings. Some of the ladies there have several problems, like I do. (Not uncommon to people who have bp.) Good luck. Meg
