My son is off of preschool this week and we're trying an extended chelation

round...we're on day 4 he is seeming a bit more hyper and laughing for no

particular reason..hope this is not a bad sign....the definate good signs are

that he is expressing himself better and more often and making intense eye

contact....he picked up a house i put on his train table and said " No!

go-bye " and walked to the bedroom door and chucked it!!! Has anyone else

tried an extended round...what results did you get? Thanks Sharon

I tried an extended chelation cycle once and my son

did not respond well. He had increased hyperactivity

and seem more tired than ususal. I never did it again.

The three days of chelation seems perfect for him. You

will have to judge your son's reponse to the extended

chelation cycle and see if he can handle it. Vicky

Sharon,

Hi, we just finished a 2 week round of chelation. I think it was

round 6 for us. My son weighs approx. 50 lbs. and we give 20mg DMSA

and 20mgALA every 3 hours/day, 4hours/night. I really hated to see

my son have 2 bad days every week coming down off of chelation.

Monday and Tuesday were a drag and his therapy especially speech was

not going well. Along with all the anitoxidents I give lots of

probiotics, 3 different types, 90 billion cells total, split in 2

doses morning and afternoon. I tried to cut this in half and

thought I saw a change in his poops. We are now going to take a

little more than 2 weeks off before we chelate again. The laughing

could be yeast with your son, do you give probiotics or GSE? Sam

was great during the round, we are glad not to be getting up at 2am

for the next 2 weeks or so! Maddie

yes Sharon, I did a round of 4.5 days on Spring break when I usually do 2.5 days

(weekend). He was nastier and a for a bit longer almost 5 days after a round. I

still saw gains though. just two days ago I told him it was bed time and he

said " I'm not tired " . He's never been prompted for this.

BTW, I had to really up his probiotics and GSE along with Oregano oil to get the

yeast down.

I really wish I didn't have to take 2 steps back to go one step forward. Maybe

if I understood the sulfation/detoxification pathways more along with the

fast/slow phase 1 and 2 it might be easier on him but I can't figure this out

yet and I'm sure Andy is weary of trying to explain it to me. I keep looking at

the charts and re-reading his book but I only get more confused each time. Duh!

Hi

We did 22 doses instead of 16 on round 2 (round one was 3/11). Whilst we have

had problems with poop on the floor (not for about 7 months) and wetting at

school (again not for about 9 months) and he seemed extra intense in stimms,

there have been short bursts of brilliant 'normal' stuff too.

I also confused the issue slightly by retrying a homeopathc probiotic liquid

(???) and the nasty yeasty excema type rash we have had for 2 months is

gone!!! Maybe the extra stimming was down to die off.

Back to 3 days this round but will try extended again in school hols. Sam is

5.3, 43Lbs and we give 25ng DMSA 4 hourly round the clock.

the dose is too high? he weighs about 35lbs? Seems like a low enough dose

though...hmm? Thanks Sharon

Sharon,

We did a 6 day " on " chelation round with our 17 year old son last chelation

cycle. We also lowered the dosage like Andy recommends for people with more

side effects. We gave him lipoic acid every 3 hours. His nose did not run like

it normally does and we did see improvements. We started to do the same, again,

but I stopped chelating him last night at 3 l/2 days as I feel that I got a

virus. I think these long chelation rounds really do a better job with less

side effects!!! I really appreciate Andy, Moria, and others on this list who

have helped us so much!!! Thank you. Rose

Sharon, My son weighs 47 lbs, we started our first round with 12mg

each DMSA and ALA. After round 3 we went up to 20 mg each. 3hrs 4at

night. I would go with a lower dosage and see if it makes a

difference. We use 90 billion cells a day of probiotics. I thought

this was an unusually high amount but maybe everyone uses this

much? Also 3 different kinds. I tried to cut the amount in half

(they cost!) but he started to have issues. Also we give houston

enzymes with all foods even though we are basically gfcf. And the

antioxidents that Andy recommends. Go with your instinct.

My husband and I both think our son is trying to use more expressive

language this week. Sharing his thoughts a bit more. He is very

language delayed, 6yo. :) Maddie
