Guest guest
Hi all, First, I want to say that since adapting the IE approach, I feel awsome. I've been IEing for a little over a month, so I'm still at the beginning of my journey, but already it is taking its toll. Today I felt like some tortilla chips with my lunch so I went down to the vending machine and gone a bag. After 5 or 6, I felt the craving go away and dumped them in the trash. This NEVER would have happened a month ago. I would have taken the " blow the healthy eating " mentality and would have finished them all just because they were there and felt stuffed afterwards. So I feel like I'm making progress. One thing that I've noticed that hasn't rally changed much, though, is evening snacking. I've always loved to snack in the evening, after dinner and before going to bed, and I like a variety. This has caused me a lot of anxiety in the past - always planning what I would have to snack on in the evening first whenever I switched to a new diet. Since IE, I'm still finding I'm snacking but with a different approach. I'm following the rules of IE and taking small amounts to start with, remembering that if I want more I can always have more, and stopping when I'm full. So I'm not snacking in huge amounts, only in variety (sometimes 3 or 4 different snacks). I'm still working on keeping alert to my fullness, though I still feel like sometimes I'm past the 8 (full, according to the " Intuitive Eating " book) but not quite at the 9 (stuffed). I feel on the one hand that this shouldn't be happening, that I'm doing something " wrong " . But on the other, I figure that the main goal (for me at least) with IE is not only to develop a health relationship with food but to curtail the binge eating that I've been doing for much of my life. I haven't had a binge or even the urge to binge since starting IE, so I figure I'm accomplishing my goal. Maybe it takes evening snacking to help do that. What does everyone else thing?
